Susan Brown Fine Art by Susan Brown

Fresh, Vibrant Art--Women, Flowers, and Location, Location, Locations!

I work in acrylic, oil and watercolor. I especially enjoy painting in acrylics for the boldness of the palette options and ability to add texture to my paintings, however, the flow of watercolor offers freedom and “happy surprises” which add to the immediacy of my paintings. Oil gives me the ability to add depth and fluency, as well as a range of color and texture effects.

My work has been shown in juried exhibits, galleries in CA, OH and MD, as well as in private collections. I teach at Ghost Ranch, NM; and will again when COVID-19 permits...

I love drawing and painting figures and portraits; “Micalina's Granddaughter,” is in the current FusionArt.com 3rd Annual Women Artists exhibit and "Freedom" is in the 'Figures and Faces' exhibit. My location painting, "Davenport Evening," was chosen as the poster for the Pacific Art League's (Palo Alto), 'Beyond 20/20, 99th Year Celebration Exhibition.'

I have found in my street scenes and similar "location" series of paintings a love of solving the geometry and ability to create a sense of place. When you see these paintings I hope you feel like you are there too!

My aim is to evoke in the viewer the sense of joy and discovery I experience as I create and present paintings.
