Prix de la Photographie in Paris. Photography Masters Cup in Los Angeles. Black & White White Spider Awards in London:
For his work, the photographer Stefan Kuhn receives for ages important international awards and wide recognition throughout the industry.
Stefan Kuhn studied at the photo-design school in Pforzheim/Germany and graduated with honors in 2003. Soon then, Kuhn assisted at ambitious photo projects and grand campaigns for major national and international clients such as Audi, BMW, Credit Suisse, German Telekom, Lufthansa, Porsche, Siemens and Volkswagen. The collaboration with photographers from different areas, brought the 1977 born Kuhn in his own development even further. He was inspired by the very various approaches of colleagues, adapted certain ways of working and visual languages, eventually turned it into a context with his personal ideas and preferences - and thus developed over the years his own distinctive photographic signature.
Landscapes, people, sports and reportages: Stefan Kuhn succeeds due to his long experience and his passion for the cause, over again to set his motives in the perfect light with a keen sense for moods and emotions.
On numerous photographic journeys to distant lands, the artist Stefan Kuhn collected over the years banknotes from around the world. Only through close reading of both sides of the paper money, and viewing through the backlighting, he saw the diversity and uniqueness that carries each bill in itself. Mostly to be shown typical features such as colors, writings, people, landscapes or depicted historical events. Other features such as the security thread, the guilloche, or watermarks and
holograms are usually between two sides of a bill.
Based on this constellation was also the idea to arise the visual perception of a bill by an interplay of front, core and reverse into a new perspective. By the method of reproduction technology and the signifieds lighting of the photographer, the printed
objects are lit in a way, that the original colors remain and the result represents a symbiosis of all specific quirks and characteristics of the bill.
A currency is constantly changing. Through it´s status as means of payment, a cash bill often goes through many hands over decades. It meets with different cultures, crosses continents and even gets to know various layers of our society. During this
period, the cash changes not only his outer appearance, but also its value. This is depending on various factors, so as the economic situation, the foreign trade or the political stability of a country subjected to a constant metamorphosis.
Taking the time component of this historical photographic study, the exchange rate on each reproduction and the date of publication will be held compared with the current reserve currency for the following period. This gives the artwork a distinct
touch and its gaining in importance. Currently there are 160 official currencies worldwide, each with 5-7 bills. For "The project banknotes," bills of all maintenance levels will be photographed. Both, "hot off the press" banknotes of active currencies, collectibles and historical commemorative notes or reprints in small print runs.

The photo series "Beach Life" was created on hot summer days in 2010, while staying two weeks along the Italian adriatic coast. All images were photographed on the beaches of Caorle, Eraclea and Cavallino-Treporti.
On closer examination, you realize that a person or a vessel is separated from the group. For the viewer creates this effect that an individual is on his own, it seems listless and pensive. People never look directly into the camera. It manifests a feeling of peace and silence..
The target of this series is to give the viewer the feeling to be "in the thick of things". He lives with the individual scenes and goes with them. That was realized through different camera angles, very thin camera heights, but also front and blur backgrounds reasons. This encourages the viewer to persevere. He gets a standing still and quiet.
The architecture series "Westhafen apartments" consisting of four images emerged in Frankfurt/Main. The Westhafen area is a former inland port. Interlocked buildings partly stand on stakes in the water and are limited by the port mole.
