Born in Tarlac, Tarlac Philippines, parents Dr Enrique Manabat Jr and Dr Milagros Manabat D.D.S.
Moved to the U.S.A. settled in Green Bay,Wi. (my father said he chose Green Bay because he loves the Packers). Ive also lived in diff.states namely:
Florida, Nevada,Illinois and Wisconsin. My paintings are on display (privately/publicly).
And Im proud to be an American citizen.
Education:
1.Attended The University Of Wisconsin Green Bay (studied under Clarence Cole - beginners oil painting) 1 semester 1977.
2.American Academy Of Arts Chicago,Il.
1 semester 1976.
History of back problems since 1988 (I did see the " Light " I experienced paralysis for nearly a week and extensive rehab in 1988 with 2 blown discs and I was able to walk again). M.R.I. results in March 2007, 9 herniated/degenerative discs. .
Profession: from sales I was promoted to sales mgr,closer/trainer,g.m. and finance mgr. My last day of work was 12/07 and my disability was approved 12/08. Thank God I have this art talent otherwise I wouldn't know what to do. I am very passionate about my cooking,gardening,my art.
Anyway I can only earn so much (SSA guidelines) so the rest will go to charity: 1. Wish Foundation (my niece Sophie Manabat Gonzalez cancer survivor) 2. United Way (one of my best friends-Arley Hussin-1st kid i met in 1971 -hes a great musician - also a cancer survivor). Painting is also a great therapy for my 24/7 pain.
And painting to me is a " Constant Learning - Experimenting Process ". Its so much fun and the feeling of achievement is a natural high.
Early 2010 is when i started to paint a lot and can't stop.
I will paint anything my heart and soul desire. My attitude towards painting is that anything I will make it look unique my way
to the best of my God given talent and to the best of my ability even if it takes forever.

I was holding my pallette and thought why not put the pallette in the painting. Initially I was gonna do a whole painting of a girl I know. But I couldnt get a hold of her. So I had to add a pallette and me (pose for the painting so I took pics of myself my hand and exagerated on the hip. The boob is made up and added the red thong to show some sexiness. The pallette I made up and put the oil paints that I used on the painting.

Bad realationships dont last and sometimes we drag it on and make it last longer. I thought I could help stop an alcoholic/anorexic gf (that I loved) stop drinking I was wrong. We get blinded and we dont see or think clearly that there's an abundance of fish in the sea. There are bodies in the water with a total of 10 butts sticking up. Also my pallette is made up,(colors are real oil paints that I applied,it took forever to dry. In the middle is an (iris) and i took the word eye and abundance and combined them together and came up with the title " EYE BUNDANCE ". Buns dancing in the water.
Btw: I also made the pallette look like an eye shape. This painting you really have to study to see other subjects.

tribute to the Igorot tribes in the Philippines. They handcarve anything, including bamboo trees. They live in the mountains and they also carved the mountains to plant rice (rice terraces).
i still have to put more layers on the paint...
I love Corvettes even though they break down a lo,lolzz (money pit).

Its an old sentimental oil painting from 2003 ( i took the pic at a park in the Chicago suburb) and I decided to brighten her up then I couldnt stop,lolzz.
This is a 1978 Corvette 25th Anniversary Special Edition Indianapolis Pace Car. Initially General Motors was just gonna built 1500 for the entire U.S.A.:however; all the Chevrolet dealerships
were complaining so General Motors decided to build 1 pace car per chevy dealership. In 1978 there were over 6000 chevy dealerships across the nation. This car retailed for over $13000 and people bid on these cars it sold up to $75000 for one of these cars. Today according to www.nadaguides.com the high retail is over $55000 (in mint condition).
Anyway I named my vette after " Chyna "
the woman professional wrestler, she always wore black and she had big bulging muscles and very pretty girl w/long black hair and blue eyes.. As far as the technique all experiment.

I love beautiful legs and corvettes.
This is the photo I use for my business cards. The front of this vette was used from 1958 - 1962. And the rear of the 1962 was used till 1967.

Luckily I had my camera with me so I quickly took a pic of Chyna, I fell in love with the lightness and dark contrast.
Ive had 2 ex wives and numerous ex gfs by far this is the best girl ive ever had. Weve been together off and on for 10 yrs. Omg shes so sexy,doesnt talk back,doesnt give me any headaches and she prowls and crawls like a pussycat and most of all she rides real niiice,haha im just kidding. I named her after " CHYNA " the wrestler she wears black and have big bulging muscles. Pumping gas in green bay,wi.(town of bellevue). Instead of putting yellow/orange flames i decided to put warm and cool colors (to make it look more classy). The car has many memories with people and places in general. I bought Chyna with only 19,000 miles she now has 49,000 original miles. Everywhere we go she gets all the attention.

My cousin Irene told me to do some Filipino paintings. So I did.
To the right is jackfruit the biggest fruit in the world can grow (up to 3').
To the left is Durian the most expensive fruit.
The fruit tree with pink fruits is called macopa. Then I decided to put a nude Filipina chick. I also added rice terraces in the background with banana trees on top of the mountain. The sun I put because the Filipino flag has a sun on it. The flag is also in one of my paintings of Pacquiao

My daughter (19 yrs old) Niqueta's request for an oil painting of her (she's getting into tattoos. She kept sending me pics of skulls. And she told me she loves panda bears. I was leary of doing this painting, it took me a couple of mos. before I started it.
I will add a samurai sword and (guardian angels) an angel or 2 to protect her in this painting.No guns lolzz.
We both agreed its a Christmas present for her.
Any suggestions for a title?
I also put all kinds of faces in the sky and cats and dogs,lolzz. also i put diff.color fish in the water with bubbles.too bad u cant see them in this photo...
The dragon (green and blue) burnt one of the tentacles of the octopus and lit up a cig/joint from the face (w/3 white horns) right above the burnt tentacle, hes also blowing smoke and one of the smoke is a heart shape.. And the cobra (i added big ears) has little bright red eyes and hissing at the skull w/a hat/hair combination.what a dumb snake,lolzz.
Oh i think ill put a gold tooth on the skull and a flying skull above,(the wings are birds).
I was gonna have milk dripping from the angel so the octopus can have some,lolzz. i should have him drench with milk.
i'd thought i would add the reflection from her samurai sword of course she was checking herself out,lolzz.

Both of my grandmothers smoked dk.brown sweet cigarettes and they smoked them backwards, they blew the smoke from their nose. At 7 yrs old I tried it and i burnt my tongue and my mouth,lolzz.
This is my moms side. They had a farm, fish pond (catfish and milkfish),poultry, raised all kinds of animals and a lot of land with a big iron gate. And they lived in a huge hut mainly made out of bamboos and coconut leaves. Grandma would peel the rice by tossing them over and over with a flat basket.
The carabao/caraboo or water buffalo was use for farming (hes so tired he passed out with his tongue hanging out). It moves real slow but it can carry a big load and used for tilling the soil.
And my sisters would dance to bamboos (tinikling dance-derived from tikling bird who would walk between twigs and the bird looked like he was dancing).And I always rode my bicycle and won every race.
The rooster is used for cock fights a very big event in the Philippines.
I added a a butterfly,chicken (im debating if i should put a worm on the roosters mouth),dog (swimming in the fish pond),pig,cat,tikling bird,2 lizards,spider with a big head ready to attack the chicken,snakes ( and a 2 headed snake. Oh yeah and a fish and good luck on finding it,lolzz. These bananas have to be boiled first then they can be eaten. The room on the left has a painting and stairs. The other room has a mirror and mosquito net on top of the bed posts. And the property had a high cement fence (keeps the thieves away - they steal dogs,cats, any animals for food - and they steal tropical fruits).
One of my uncles shot a thief and killed him.
Anyway the colors on this oil painting are a lot richer and vibrant in real life.
All my grandparents have passed.

My cat was very vocal one night last week. Following me around all over the house like a scared kitty cat and he slept with me all night which he has never done before. The next morning I put my left shoe on and the zipper was up. Gail my fiancee who passed may 2004
has been visiting me. So I decided to do a tribute (oil painting) to Gail. I always feel her presence when I'm painting. Especially during the holidays.
The stairway belongs to God. The balloons are people who just died entering heaven. And in the back of her are 2 angel outfits. Those are sparkles I put on her robe., they look real sharp in real life. Her favorite color is yellow and she loves wine.

Ive never drawn painted a horse before so I emailed an acquaintance Jan and asked her if i could paint one of her horses (from a photo). She emailed me 3 photos and one of them is her daughter Chelsea riding a horse. So I went ahead and did it my way (version). Its from a memory while growing up as a kid in the Philippines after a typhoon/monsoon/hurricane the beaches were flooded so I thought it would be neat to do that effect and it would go along great with Chelseas name thats how I came up with the title " Chelsea By The Sea "

Summer 2010 (Dans place)I told my friend Susan Jenkin to go under water so I can take a picture of her. Tribute to all women who knows how to change oil or fix cars. She was laying out in the sun on her loooong beach towel then she decided to fix her car so she rolled over and started working on it,lolzz. Heavy chevy, save the whales.

I asked a friend of mine from overseas if I could do a painting from one of her photos she said go right ahead. The photo was plain. She was also seeing other men, trying to find love too soon. Then her husband saw me and started to accuse me good thing a cop drove by very slowly and was watching us (yiikes). Her husband was a lot bigger than I was, but I was a black belt in tae kwon do at that time. Right before he took off he told me I got lucky the cop is here. I just ignored him and walked away.
She was so lost and confused.(thats why i put a jungle scene,bamboos,glass of wine,waterfall,etc...) And I told her to be careful its a jungle out there.

I wonder why I named this painting bubbles? ". If you wanna find out please read the rest of the story, thank you. Actually one of my best friends Dr Tim Krawford emailed me a photo of this skinny girl with a dollar stuck between her cheeks/butt (she looked like a stripper) the photo bothered me so much that i had to do something about it. This is what happens when i get bored lolzz.
First thing i did was print it. Went to my drafting table. Anyway I decided to cut off her legs, took out the dollar from her cheeks and exagerated on the arms,elbows and her cheeks. Made the skylite a lot wider and the walls wider (this is how i came up with weird angles).
Secondly i drove to Hobby lobby and purchased a big canvass 24 X 36 for her cheeks, woohoo.
And i wanted the viewer to be curious and question themselves on what she's doing. Is she pulling up her underwear or taking them off,who knows...
I hope I accomplished " BUBBLES ", viewers curiousity.

I did this painting in 2001.
Oil paints and I put coconut fiber on the rice. Fibers are right in front and the 3 women carrying the rice. In real life the colors are more vibrant.

I was hired to do this 3 paintings. She wanted me to do nothing but circles to match her decor and I got carried away,lolzz. The first thing that popped in my head was the word boso.At least it matches most of the colors she requested. She didnt like it now she loves it.
Boso means peep. The guy holding the steering wheel got so hot and bothered that his veins started to pop out,lol.

In the 60s at approx.7 years old I experienced my first boso. I was at my grandmas farm and they were having a party. The guests started to come and in order to come on the house people had to walk up the stairs I saw the women coming so I hid under the stairs and they were all wearing mini skirts. I remember getting so excited and turned on but I didnt know what to do,lol.
I decided to paint an astronaut (from the 60s space age-passing by after he landed in the moon)he got out of his space capsule and decided to peep too.
Just gotta paint the sides.
I have 3 months for her circle paintings.

First of all this painting looks a lot better in real life (the colors are a lot richer and vibrant) and you see more details. I'm real having a hard time to get a picture close to the original ):

the composition has been in my head for months.I wasnt sure if i could make it work. but i thrive on challenges.. i have to paint 2 more baby jaguars (theyre actually circling and checking out the car. its actually a family of jaguars.the toughest work are the 2 baby jaguars.
ive always wanted an XKE, but they are waaaay too expensive for maintainance, parts and labor yiiikes..if you can afford it why not.
For the heck of it I decided to put a high heel shoe on the tree and my initial E on the jaguar.

I was listening to a Johnny Cash song " One Piece At A Time ". Its about a guy who worked for GM and everyday he stole diff. car parts. Finally he got to build a car with 3 head lites and 1 fin,lolzz. And the titled weighed 60 lbs...The guy kneeling down is welding a spider web after he painted the car. What a dumb ass,lol, criminals generally are.
The pinup poster is Marilyn Monroe laying on her bed. However i changed it my way. I added a 2 headed snake (1 snake doesnt like her and the other is trying to kiss her (lol), tree, sun/moon, purple sky and green (for grass). A guitar behind the coke machine. A 1950-1960 bicycle. 2 chickens and a dog..A car door with no arm rest and no crank/handle.
i decided to put a couple of rollers on the garage door opener/bracket (hard to see on this pic).

A brilliant artist and according to my friend Dr. Tim he cut off his ear because of a woman.
I always wondered what happened to Vincent Van Gogh's right ear. Did he feed it to his dog. Or did he dry it and made beef jerky out of it, lolzz.
This is my version of his ear and now its preserved....
The different colors also represents his personality and his approach to art.
He's one of my favorite artists.

Art Garage Gallery is having a contest in February 2012. Mainly about hearts.
I thought about what my sister Merciditas told me (back in the early 70s), she said she over heard one of the nurses (party in our house) saying my dad has very soft hands,lolzz,he told me during WWII he wanted to help people who were dying (or lend a " Helping Hand " but he couldnt because he was just a kid) and thats what motivated him to be a doctor (goal achieved). And the different color leaves represents being on call any second of the day/night. Delivering healthy babies (diff.colors/nationality). 2 pics.of woman and a baby carved on the tree.In fact he delivered me in the living room at home. He wanted to make sure its a boy because there were 3 girls before me.
I also remember the time one of his friends accidentally cut his tongue off
while eating steak with a knife and my papa went over to his friends house and sewed his tongue back together.
My dad passed 11/09.

This is a real place in Wisconsin however i eliminated a lot of trees,rocks and tried to simplify it. I made my own rocks and Im obsessed with light and dark of course to attain that I added a partial sun. It took several placement for the sun and I redid the painting 3x. Now I have an idea why Van Gogh cut his ear off, hehe. This one almost drove me crazy (but it was a lot of fun painting it. Special thanks to my friend Roxann Nys everywhere she goes she takes photos of practically anything. I dont know if you guys noticed it theres a tool in this painting and its the wrong one. I offered her a commission she refused instead I cooked a delicious gourmet meal for her. I'll still surprise her with something soon as this painting sells. Oh one more thing Roxann forgot the name of the town in Wisconsin duh.

This painting is one of my best friend Arley Hussin. He has battled colon cancer and a survivor.
He's also a great musician. Actually he's the first kid I met back in 1971 when we moved to Green Bay,Wi. we were 13 years old. At 13 he already had a band (Mark Shulman,Ted Murray and Kurt - Bader - all friends) they use to play at our (family's) birthday parties. This way he can keep singing, play his guitar and mostly perform in front of people who love music and they can sing dance with him.
He also told me he had seen the light.

Gagamba means spider.
When i was a kid in the Philippines we would collect spiders (as pets)care for them and feed them with bitter melon leaves, supposedly it makes them meaner. We then get a stick and let our spiders fight. I decided to add a tiny monkey its the neighbors (they are caucasian) they decided to live in the Philippines after WWII. We were lucky we never got bit by the spiders. We didnt even think about it we just wanted to play,lol.
And they are poisonous.
W on the big banana leaf is for Win for my spider,lolzz.
Looks like the monkey is about to jump, i dont think hes going for the spiders, lolzz.
Oh the thumb im double jointed.
Colors are more vibrant and not faded,the lamp is fading the colors.

Both of my grandmothers smoked dk.brown sweet cigarettes and they smoked them backwards, they blew the smoke from their nose. At 7 yrs old I tried it and i burnt my tongue and my mouth,lolzz.
This is my moms side. They had a farm, fish pond (catfish and milkfish),poultry, raised all kinds of animals and a lot of land with a big iron gate. And they lived in a huge hut mainly made out of bamboos and coconut leaves. Grandma would peel the rice by tossing them over and over with a flat basket.
The carabao/caraboo or water buffalo was use for farming (hes so tired he passed out with his tongue hanging out). It moves real slow but it can carry a big load and used for tilling the soil.
And my sisters would dance to bamboos (tinikling dance-derived from tikling bird who would walk between twigs and the bird looked like he was dancing).And I always rode my bicycle and won every race.
The rooster is used for cock fights a very big event in the Philippines.
I added a a butterfly,chicken (im debating if i should put a worm on the roosters mouth),dog (swimming in the fish pond),pig,cat,tikling bird,2 lizards,spider with a big head ready to attack the chicken,snakes ( and a 2 headed snake. Oh yeah and a fish and good luck on finding it,lolzz. These bananas have to be boiled first then they can be eaten. The room on the left has a painting and stairs. The other room has a mirror and mosquito net on top of the bed posts. And the property had a high cement fence (keeps the thieves away - they steal dogs,cats, any animals for food - and they steal tropical fruits).
One of my uncles shot a thief and killed him.
Anyway the colors on this oil painting are a lot richer and vibrant in real life.
All my grandparents have passed.

Balut are duck eggs (delicacy in the Philippine Islands-did you know there are over 7000 islands in the P.I.). I didnt realize there are so many diff.types of ducks and birds (some looks prehistoric). I Made a condo of the huts,lol. In Baguio city you hand out some money and a kid will climb up a cliff to take your money out of your hand (they climb about 2 stories-its unbelievable)the kids climbing up the cliff (with no protection-it means they climb with bare hands and feet).
Bangka (Philippine boat), rice terraces are quite a scene, it must have taken the Igorot tribes eons to hand carve lots of mountains.
If you know any Filipinos ask them what is balot? (its pronounced ba-lut).
I ate it when I was a kid (it was very good back then). Im planning on visiting next year, I dont know if I can eat it again,lol.
btw: the guy in the boat is hauling nothing but duck eggs in white and dk red (pickled).
Btw; thats a market (watermelon or egg)with little cars parked and next to it is a swimming pool in the egg(egg is light blue water and green and dk blue.). There are egg tunnels also where the road goes,etc...and more.

I also remember some of my classmates carried little mirrors and used them on our women teachers ( and I think they were nuns lolzz). Ive never drawn painted a horse before so I emailed an acquaintance Jan and asked her if i could paint one of her horses (from a photo). She emailed me 3 photos and one of them is her daughter Chelsea riding a horse. So I went ahead and did it my way (version). Its from a memory while growing up as a kid in the Philippines after a typhoon/monsoon/hurricane the beaches were flooded so I thought it would be neat to do that effect and it would go along great with Chelseas name thats how I came up with the title " Chelsea By The Sea "

1. Jeepney (old jeeps are never demolish they are recycled or converted into jeepneys - like a mini passenger bus) they generally put isuzu engines in them). Im almost positive the trend started after WWII, when the Americans left most of their equipments.
2. Kalesa (horse & buggy) I dont know who cleans the poop I think its recycled in the air and it kills the pollution, lolzz (im kidding).
Tricycle (2 types) by pedalling - great workout. And the other basically a motorcycle with a sidecar. both tricycles can fit 3 passengers.
And the cracks you see all over is just an experience ive seen (earthquakes) when i was a kid.
For references i had 3 pics and composed all 3 into one and somehow it all worked out, wootwoot.

To the right is jackfruit the biggest fruit in the world can grow (up to 3').
To the left is Durian the most expensive fruit.
The fruit tree with pink fruits is called macopa. Then I decided to put a nude Filipina chick. I also added rice terraces in the background with banana trees on top of the mountain. The sun I put because the Filipino flag has a sun on it. The flag is also in one of my paintings of Pacquiao

This is a maple tree in front of my home (the back of it is suppose to be the street instead i put a stream with a guy in a boat fishing. The roots really do exist i call them anaconda. Its tough to cut the grass. The roots have damaged driveways,sidewalks,etc... In the summertime it produces tons of helicopters and by fall it also produces tons of colorful dead leaves. The bottom line is this tree is a
" P.I.T.A." a Pain In The Ass maple tree. But I did think I could make it look beautiful!!!!.....

My porch and the background are my tomato plants and the side of my garage.
The tomatoes were from last summer and i got them to grow over 7 ft. the secret is sun and a lot of water. I also paint in this room in the summertime. And its my cat's favorite room he actually wakes me up every morning to go in the porch,lolzz.

Dan's (condo) summer 2010,backyard by the pool. I kept looking at this apple tree and i envisioned snakes because it had weird branches. Thats what inspired me to do this oil painting of his backyard. I took a picture of it, anyway i took out the fence,plants,tons of weeds. (I always keep my own landscape clean) thats probably why i wanted to clean up the pic. Anyway i added other things to it, like 2 black snakes wrapped around the branches and put trees in the back with shadows and made the shadow of the apple tree like a giant shrimp. So i combined the snake and shrimp words for the title " Shrim - nake ". It was a fun summer relaxing,refreshing day in his pool. In fact I ended up doing 2 oil paintings: his backyard and Sue in the swimming pool.
I gotta change that black frame its making the painting look small.

This abstract is me standing next to my pc desk with the lamp on and wearing an old ugly yellow sweat SHIRT (that has paint all over. When I paint I like things to come alive. In the early 80s I worked at Monkey Wards and the women in the office wanted to see my art works so I brought a couple in and they fell in love with my work. Then all of a sudden out of nowhere my ignorant ass hole boss (I'll call him Ski - I think hes a polish sausage) made a comment about my art work,he said " your art is blah,no emotions and youre not playing with a full deck ". I came so close to kicking him between his balls ( but I didnt thank God I have a black belt in tae kwon do - it made me disciplined). I didnt wanna waste my energy and SWEAT on him. I was gonna put stars as weapons instead I use dice and my usual specs and a glass of wine I love wine too. Anyway there are more stuff in this painting. " SWEAT - S "

What made me do this painting? My friend Beth Luedeker from texas (they own cows ) we were playing scrabble (at an internet site) and she told me her and her husband just purchased a bull and they named him after me (Ike - my nickname). Then she told me this bull has a great life all this bull will do is make babies. I told her hes lucky hes got it made and I said thanks a lot..
Anywho i decided to put an American flag on the fence but I thought Id make it look more unique by putting the wood grain on the flag. however I wanted to wait till I got done painting the bull before I put the white stars on the american flag and if I did it will take away the center of attraction so I left them out.
To me the bull is the real " STUD ". This is what they call a watusi bull.

The first thing I saw going in to this town was a big cemetery it just seemed like there were more dead people than the actual population. So I decided to make a happy colorful painting. Theres more painting on both sides my camera couldnt get the whole painting.

Steel bridge w/ 68 Stingray (roadster) Vette and Johnny (early 1970s era).
In all the years Ive passed this bridge (in door county peninsula - tourist haven). Johnny told me that he didnt want a sun on the painting. Ive never seen a rainbow on this bridge, so I thought Id put one in, lolzz and create utilize (the shadowing). The town of Sturgeon Bay almost demolished this bridge but the people of Door County wanted it to stay (monumental/historic) its now being renovated. the bridge was built sometime in the 1920's. there's a face at the end of the tunnel. My friend Johnny pinpointed a face of a fish (Sturgeon) on the clouds (how ironic) i did not deliberately put it there..
Also he pointed out 2 fish mating (water) on pavement/bridge,lolzz,i didnt put it there it just turned out to look like fishes..The young Johnny (w/long blonde hair)and present Johnny (now grayed)are gonna be in both vettes " Looking Back " at each other. This painting is a collaboration of ideas between the two of us.
