Ekaterina Abramova

Ekaterina Abramova is an artist, specializing in painting and graphic arts in mixed as well as traditional techniques using oil, acrylic, watercolor, markers.
Although being a multifaceted artist, her style could be described as going in two major directions: the 21st century Post-Expressionism, and Spiritual Ornamental paintings drawn on symbolic folk art of various peoples, most notably on Russian and Indian mythology. Born in 1979 in Moscow, she graduated from an art school with honors and continued her studies at Vasnetsov College of Fine Arts, Moscow. In 2007 she received her MFA from the Repin State Academy of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg, Russia. Among of her numerous Awards are: Gold Medal “250th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Arts,” Gold Medal “National Endowment for the Arts” of the International Charity Fund “Philanthropists of the Century”, citation from the Russian Academy of Fine Arts for the participation in the exhibition dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the Academy. She was nominated for the State Presidential Scholarship in the Arts. She is a member of the Union of Russian Artists, Art Fund International, Creative Union of Professional Artists, Art Indulge Foundation.
In 2014, she was awarded an International Artist Residency in Hyderabad, India, organized by the State Fine Art Gallery and Kalanirvana Foundation, to represent Russia among 20 other artists from all over the world, as well as in Goa Chitra Museum, Goa, India.
And in 2015, she has been awarded a 3-month International Artist Residency, curated by Eileen Kaminsky Foundation at Mana Contemporary Art Complex in Jersey City, NJ. She will paint 10 pictures of her new series Placenta starting September 2015.

Placenta

Here are paintings from my new Placenta series. It was born here in New York, and deals with my life experiences and my contemplation about the ways we all develop in this world.

Mother Board. Placenta “Mother Board. Placenta”

Everyday of my life I have the same question: what will be our future? I dedicated a lot of thought and contemplation about the nature of reality, our reality.
According to many of the world philosophical systems, there are several bodies - levels of existence. There is a material, physical body that has its own tastes feelings, sensations, and nervous system. There is a subtle body that interpenetrates the physical one and has its own tastes, feelings, sensations, and nervous system different from the physical one. There is also a third level of subtle body with its own attributes that differ from the other two. I explore the interaction and interconnection of the subtle bodies with the material one.
And I think about it in terms of human creations, all devices, which we are using everyday. We created them, and we face them every minute of our lives. They are already smarter then we are. So, how humans will deal with it 10, 20 or 50 years from now? Who will be on top: devices or humans? What is now?
We can create only if God allowed us to create something. But we have freedom to choose what we will do with our creations. Any creation can mean progress, or it can mean destruction. Everything has two sides.

Beyond Recall. Placenta “Beyond Recall. Placenta”

The living part has shrunk surrounded by the machines and now needs to grow within itself. One can make this conclusion watching the curve of the ear. Explosion – is the principle of Creator’s being, implosion – is the principle of the black hole. To be in the state of implosion means to pull in all that lives, means to side with Death. But inside life we see an attempt to expand, get out of the captivity. One palm looks at the audience, the other – inside, defending itself from the surroundings.

Information. Placenta “Information. Placenta”

The image of development of the artificial intelligence. The information comes from above, from the limitless divine intelligence through a very thin and delicate channel, and then through human bodies gets re-encoded in digits and crawls downwards, widening the possibilities of the machine and plunging each individual in as closed square prison. The eternal process: the more we get of the pure divine energy, the more we feed it to the machine. The machine becomes more powerful, filling out all the space. Instead of living full earthly experience we watch the digital movie in the empty squares, pushed out of the living quarters into the realm of the mechanical mind. The two kinds of unity: the upper unity of a unified being, and the lower – a perverted copy of the upper where we are chained by the machine, its slaves, the slaves of this mechanical existence. Four heads, four squares – snug cubes instead of human beings, fitting into any cell.

The lines of artificial intelligence also produce its own tree of life, having copied the principle of growth. But it lacks one important part – Life. And this is in the hands of human beings: to get fully integrated in the artificial matrix, or to choose the way of live life by getting out of the influence of the computer intelligence. Any decision involves series consequences.
The artificial matrix can copy anything, for its intellect is superior to human brain. It can pretend to be the Tree of Life, the call of the Creator, even the Mother. But it will never be able to become that, for it can’t create or bear fruits. Only by allowing it to become part of us we can give it that chance. But is it worth it? To give it that chance? Will we not turn into machines by doing so? It’s not yet too late to stop and get the gift of Being and the freedom of thought back to ourselves.
