Location: Switzerland
I live in Geneva, Switzerland and am Swiss and Austrian, from Vienna; also other european origins further back. With my parents I stayed here and there for three or four years at a time, like Montreal, in the swiss mountains, Lugano (italian part of Switzerland) Los Angeles USA, Tunisia, Greece, Vienna, Rome and then settled down in Geneva that I love. I was born in 1941 so have seen and gone through lots, all registered in my mind and soul which one day needs to burst out. Then I take the brush, a knife, my fingers whatever and plunge into the canvas working until a little voice inside me says: "that's it now"!
I started painting at the age of twelve and never quite stopped. It was at UCLA, Los Angeles, where I lived for four years, that I majored in Art. They taught me to just go ahead and paint and feel free and that just corresponds my inner self and need. My work is intuitive, instinctive and talks about what moves me, sometimes recent world events, personal feelings, atmospheres, vibations through lines and the choice of colours the composition- It can be meaningful abstracts or figurative inspired images in original compositions or poetic images like atmospheres, sky and sea, snow , imagined but never copied
I only have one or two exhibitions a year here in Geneva, most of the time solo, but also in Milano and London. I also translate the images in words and am a performing poet; paintings and words with music go so well together. My work is really very personal and my hand just follows, with the varied techniques I manage, to relate what moves me or then reproduces, like a snapshot, although never copies, i have withhold in my mind.
World emotionally impacting happenings and events, pictures of natural phenomena, atmospheres
“In the tornado's eye, acrylic, 80/60 cm”
It waas during a summer when there where so many tornadoes in the USA and often images of them were shown on television. So I just felt like giving color to a huge cylone and imagined being in the center of it. I seemed obvious to me that it should be red, yellow and green surrounded by black. I love doing those quick, dynamic circles which I accentuate a little afterwards, but the first stroke must be just right, done very quickla and decisively. Asian have recognized this in my painting a fact that the practice their whole lifetime. I also wanted to represent the power and tremendous strength of this phenomena.
“Northen lights acrylic on canvas, 90cm/60cm, 3cm”
That year the news talked a lot about the beautiful northern lights and I felt like taking up the theme. What I wanted to show is the rapidity they swish around in the sky and the awe and wonder they provoke. So I chose strong pastel colours. I can say this now but I just got down to painting with the idea of northern lights and this is the image that came forth. I integrate something and it gushes forth, mind and hand acting together. Besides that, by itself, it's a smashing image and composition I had great pleasure painting.
“Exoplanet oil and acrylic on canvas, 1m/1m/ 3 cm. ”
It was the big news in 2014 that the first planet outside of our galaxy had been discovered by an astrophysician way up the mountain of St.Luc, in the swiss Alps, in the Valais, in a tiny typical chalet village, by his small but powerful enough telescope The man just coudn't believe it that this tiny dot on his sky should be something so extraordinary - a planet in another galaxy! So he sent out a message, asking for confirmation to all observatories in the world and next morning he got confirmation from the big Mount Palomar observator in California. Wow he had hit the jackpot! So, I wanted to depict this planet moving along in space, a space with many colorful things happening in it, moving along like on a screen and this big golden ball full of sort of lives on it, pushing along, surrounded by it's glow and a strange even space sound resounding everywhere.
“World's madness spreading like a flood - Syria. 80cm H/60 cm W, 2cm, Acylic 22.2013”
I painted this when happenings in Syria really got bad, inondating the whole area with islamism and atrocities. Painted in the fury of the news.
When the world became aware in 2013 of the Lampedusa tragedy off the shores of the little italian isle of Lampedusa; people fleeing Syria's war and massacers, and drowning in the sea. Under the emotion of these events, I took the brush and the red paint tube and this cross of dripping blood came forth ...
“The mangrove, Bresil. Oil 1,20H-1m, 2cm. 07.2011”
The mangrove in Bresil: water, plants all over, muddy earth, sun trying to filter through the luxurious, entangled vegetation. Again one of those works I plunge in with the knife, quickly before it dries and give the finishing touch after here and there but hardly any in this one. The difficulty is to know when to stop.
“Inccndiary fires, Oil and acrylic, 60H/50W cm, 2cm The big fires in Canada”
This work was actually painted in 2011 when there were huge fires in Los Angeles that I saw years ago. So impressive! And now Fort Murray in Alberta is devastated by the flames, the homes and people's belongings...
The huge red moon, hitting you right in the eye, so low in the sky, like a huge red balloon, this is what I wanted to paint in a black sky as smooth as a laquered japanese box with nothing else. I wanted the moon to really stick out, so it is structed
“Helping hands against despair, acrylic 90H/60W, 3cm”
Throughout history there have been moments when helping hands were needed, confidence and hope. Today in one of those moments and I wanted to represent it in a painting. These three figures almost happened by themselves and I just had to accentuate them. This sometimes happens when I paint under emotional feelings about dramatic news, the mind and heart guide the hand and a miracle happens. There is nothing intelectual or planned about it.
“Fukushima, acylic on paper, Painted when the news broke out”
The horror of Fukushima. Painted when it broke out in the news

Syria's ordeal painted when it all started, the blood, the massacers, the bombs
“A Tsumani - The power of oceans. oil/acrylic, 1mW/80cmL”
In this oil/acrylic I wanted to show the power of oceans, a Tsunami . The huge waves crashing on water, land, everywhere, in horrid noise and bringing disaster and desolation
Part of my "Our world" theme, this crasy painting is quite atypical for me but it just happened and I enjoyed painting it till the very end. What is up there, what are these worlds we eternally question, study, imagine and lend meaning to. These fantasy shapes swirling around, floating through the darkness, are somewhat linked and talking to us, bringing colour and life to the all englobing darkness, our own darkness...
“Red moon, acrylic 60L/50H cm, 3 cm. Like a japanese laquer box, just one golden-red moon”
This is to represent this exceptional natural phenomena, the huge red-golden moon a dark night. I felt like painting it as if on a brilliant japanese, black laquer box although not smooth but with horizontal brush strokes
When it happened painted with the émotion still fresh, to express the chaos, despair shock and many tears. Like a crying Madonna
“World tensions. Arylic and oil, 80 cm H x 60 cm W. 2018”
I felt like representing the many dangerous tensions at present in our world. A tense seemingly unbalanced art work
“Inferno ... Sexual harassement and more ...STOP! OIl and acrylic. 80 cm H x 60 cm W. 2018”
I wanted to depict the gradual imprisonnement through specifically targetted manipulations and violence like entering into the hell of shame and silence without exit and today's women reaction, saying stop to such sick minds. an archaïsm, reason for the primitive like painted face, still present today
“The Curtain is falling onto the last acrylic 80 x 60 cm. 09.2018”
It 's like in a play, today's world coming to an end in the last act ... This artwork has received the Carravaggio Prize, Milano. I choose it for the colors and the light effect
“Social media leaking and us naïve users being used. Acrylic and oil. 50 x 50 cm. ”
You and me on Internet's highways, avid users being used
“Devastating winds. Acrylic 100 x 70 cm ”

Vibrations through lines and choice of colours is one of my themes, object of an exhibition in 2014 in Milano and Geneva. The works may be partly structured so as to accntuate a facet of the atmosphere I want to convey. Color association is most important in arousing these vibrations.
“Winter vibration, acrylic 32H / 92W, 2 cm. ”
The intense blue, sparkling winter sky, the bright yellow sun, the red bonnets and caps of kids, the early dark hours, and a vague idea of snow somewhere, undelrined by structure, or very smooth lines, those are winter colors for me here in Switzerland
“Getting out of the city bustel and off... 30H / 40W cm 2 cm. Acrylic ”

In a train, for example, looking out of the window at the lanscape passing by at equal speed... sand hills, blue and golden, a large, calm river flowing peacefully by, some rocks along the shore ... can ou hear the sound of the train ? It is a hot country where black lives to protect from the piercing sun, a land of contrast
“Calling you .... an sms...acrylic 60H / 50W cm, 2 cm”
How to represent a hot sms sent out into the universe .... Composition, colours and the idea just came to me as an evidence
“In my mind, the sea, acrylic, 50H /60W cm, 3cm”
Just that idea of the sea stuck in your mind ... the rolling in little waves of the Mediterranean, the hot sand in August, the deep, heavy blue sky, nothing more but that obsession you must satisfy ...

Imagine that you are still down on the sands and looking out at the sea, going to rest like you will soon, small waves liking the sand and the night invading the last reds and yellows of sundown... this is what I wanted to portray through lines and colours
“April's windy days. acrylic, 40W/50Hcm, ”
One of those windy April days although a weak sun is already there and nature is ready to turn green, the sky is not grey but turning that typical spring blue
“Milky mist, acrylic 50H/40W cm, 2cm One of those misty days”
One of those mysty days, when everything hides behind milky shreds almost hanging from the sky upon mountains and lake and silence reigns,
“Summer Vibrations acrylic 70H-60W cm. 19.06.2016”
Summer colours vibrating, flowers in the garden under a little hot breeze, rich green shrubbery in the background, the sand with it's blue shadows, the sea with a ray of sun, and red of course and yellow and the dark olive green of marine pine trees, are a must. Expressed in lines as if you could just feel and imagine it...
This ia part of my atmospheres through lines and colour combination. A triptyque, each part different but similar globaly. I structures them heavyiy and each part is different. It's recalls the fallen leaves, the mosses, all uneven surfaces fall leaves to clean up.

“Green on green vibrations, acrylic 80 x 60 cm. 17.01.2017”

Through liners and colors represent spring's vibrations and happiness inspired by Raffaello di Sanzio' colors . This painting receives the International Raffaello Prize 2018
I like colors and lines, here vertical ones, and also to let them drip along the canvas as they like and I wish. And I wanted pastels for once but then felt to accentuate them, adding black and grey.
Sometimes I feel like rendering a certain atmosphere, a specific time of the day or the season, the colors of a place, a specific sky in an abstract but also figurative way. Since I'm also a poet, it can also be a poetic image instead of a description in words
“Running waters, Oil 50H/50W, 2 cm. ”
This image is somewhat asiatic influenced and shows water an more water running downhill. It has only two colours with s whiff of yeloow and pink here and there. It's accentuated with a very tiny pencil

“The water lily pond, Oil and acrylic 60cm/60cn, 2cm ”
We had a pond just like this or almost and I just wanted to paint an idea of it, a poetic image of it's scimmering secret waters with all the mysterious life born under the surface, like tadpoles, frogs, toads, fireflies with transluscent wings, salamanders with luck and why not a crane come to have a feast.... of course the water lilies are a must
“Dark moon 40H/40W cm, 2cm, Acrylic with structure. A full moon night on the beach”

Imagine you're in that little swiss chalet, buried in the snow, all lonely up the Alps and it's been snowing all night and day... But you're inside, in front of a warm chymney fire, eating a cheese fondue with your friends... The tries are heavy under their snow decoration and a ribbon of smoke rises in the air. You're waiting to put on your skies tomorrow to glide down the fresh snow slopes...

“Shimmerings. Acrylic and Oil. 80 cm H x 60 cm w, 2018”
I don't really know what to say about this painting except that it represents winter in a alpine country. the pitch dark sky outside, and the candles, lights, fireplace fire and good company inside, or even the walk going home on the hardly visible path, with the silence around and the muffled sound of one's foots footsteps...
I painted this for the Diego Velazquez Prize which it was betoken and inspired myself of the great masters artworks , I felt that his world was a closed one, a theater whose curtains would never open, with the spectators eternally waiting for the play to start. There is no emotion in this paintings , so in mine none also. But he loved the big curtains that were in style at court in those days.
There was a time i was so full of émotions they just spurt out of me on the canvas, sometimes even the feet, the hands and the fingers had to participate; it just happened on the spur of the moment. These are almost all oil paintings and it sure was exhilarating to walk in the paint or smear it on the canvases.
“Waiting, oil on paper, 32cm H/43cm W”
Hardl an color, more like a print with my feet in a cicular mouvement like waiting, going round and round....
“Fingerprints 60W/70H cm, 2 cm. oil and acrylic”
On an oil background with some of my feetprints, I felt like adding full of my fingerprints like writing in the paint, having fun with it
An oil painting representing that awful, terrifying event that happened one without notice, like a big red and yellow fireball bringing on darkness, falling in on you.
“Incandescent emotions, emotional action painting, oil”
Whenever you are boiling of emotions
This painting just had to be thrown on canvas while under the strong emotional status I was in, arisen by antagonistic discussions on major political votations. It is part of one oy my major themes : World Events that mark me and are painted immediately, the emotion being the only guide
This was painted when the news came out about that beserk car mowing down people on Nizza's Promenade des Anglais. I grabed the canvas and threw the paint on it and ... a sad face appeared... So, I elaborated the people's feelings and all the chaos and despair and the many faces in tears and later sorrow.....
“A walk in the woods ... autumn leaves. Oil and acrylic on canvas. 70 cm H x 60 cm W. ”
Feet and finger painting.. an urge to implicate the body iun this oil and acrylic painting. Feet walking amongst the colored autumn leaves that are like tips of fingers floow down
La mamma... with her two children ... like my son painted it;mothers always seem to be painted much taller than the children in children's paintings although it might change a little now, it is a stylized painting
Sometimes I like to paint an abstract but there is always somekind of meaning behind it, to which there is a link in the present or past. It's mainly the pleasure of painting and the pressure it excerts to pass to action without any preconceived idea.
This painting started as a complete abstract, without any preconceived idea, except the pleasure of painting. As there are several layers of paint and the consequent irregularities, layer after layer and scratching produced a pointilism effect and shimmering effect. I accentuated an upward mouvement of white, that is light which led me to the title, corresponding to my life-moto I always come back to.
As if looking into the future to see what our lives would look like in a big metropolis like New York... Even more people rushing around, more lights, more fast trains, more noise, an even more dynamic life
On a red-hot whirling background representing our todays active world and minds, forever searching for excellence, I found this way to represent thoses many ideas cropping up like lots of pop-ups, in our minds, one brilliant one in particular, although the smallest but maybe the most promising one of them all... Ideas and ideas, little lights rising constantly in our lives into the future to bring light and progress
Christmas is often a period when memories break through into the present and suddenly you dip down into all these colourful memories, like hidden behind a shimmering veil, the present retreating for a moment

“Festive winter days. Acrylic on canvas. 60 cm x 60 cm. 2018”
Imagine looking out the window to see snowflakes falling just for Christmas ... little flakes of joy just like the happiness about this unique day, the joy snow brings to those who love it, skying, skating, gliding down a rough slope on a sleigh or in a horse drawn sleigh though the white countryside to a a little village of chalets... I used this painting for my Christmas card this year
“Et Luc fuerit! Let light come. Acrylic on canvas 120 x 100 cm. 2018”
This is like present world with all it's tensions and happenings and the rising of a new brave world like a big moon and beyond full of humanities hopes and wishes
Sometimes I feel like painting an abstract and this happens most times when I am in a specific mood and like a force pushing me to paint, to take the brush and colours and go for it, let it come out, whatever it is. And then the title, since there has to be a title because Untitled does not mean anything, becomes obvious. At a certain undetermined point, Inside me, a little voice then says "now stop" and the painting is finished but I have expessed somehting, some feeling, some questioning inside me which has been given expression on the canvas
“Profumo di donna, acylic 60W/70H cm, 2cm. An whiff of an alluring ladies perfume”

“GENESIS. Indian ink on canvas 9' x 60 cm 2019”
This work is presented in the Art Book by EA Editore of WOA World of Art Art, London "The Best Modern and Contemporary Artists of 2019".

Inspired by my mental representations of various sceneries I have seen during my life, these daydreams and nightdreams sometimes surge from inside me. It is the atmospheres, the colours, the general view that I represent and not a copied scene although they might recall a specific one
This is a view inspired by where I live, around Lake Geneva, it's light and colours, it's snowy, high mountains in the distance, leading to deep, green valleys its colourful wineyards and splendid views on the lake from high on the slopes, and it's beautiful lake and skyes.
