The photographs are based on a ready-made object taken from a record sent by NASA into space in 1977, which includes visual materials and audio files supposedly representing human civilization, in case an alien intelligence comes across it. The photographs consist of images in which a decoding failure has occurred, undermining the notion that anything can be represented by an image. The original images are also detached from their context, losing their ability to create the desired meaning. The photographs seek to provoke reflection regarding the human reliance on the sense of sight at a time when the media is becoming more and more visual.
