Sunrise and Moonrise by Claude Larson

Using some radiant hand woven fabrics collected on a trip to the Taos Plateau of New Mexico, these pieces are abstractions of the glow of a sunrise and the quiet of a moonrise. The "windows" are illuminated as darkness sets into the nighttime and the quiet dim light of the morning as a household is awakening. Hand and machine quilted using rayon threads and hand dyed fibers the arcs of the celestial bodies in the sky are there to depict the passing of days. Each piece is 9" X 12" and mounted on gallery wrapped canvas.
