It was in November 2004 when I walked on a sidewalk in Hollywood, California and took my first close-up picture of a sidewalk curb detail. Soon after that I found myself consumed by the desire to find more of these curious sidewalk appearances.
I do not use Photoshop enhancements and artificial lighting. I often return to the same spot over and over again and take the same photograph at different time of the day to ensure that I have chosen the most appropriate natural lighting. My favored time to look for new sidewalk images is after rain in Los Angeles when the colors over the wet cement are much more alive and brighter.
