Hybrid Spaces by Ashley DuRoss

Supporting and separating structures in architecture feed this artistic mind. My eye admires light blanketing interior planes against contrasts of strong or softened shadows. I seek out moments when shadows and light are present in flavorful ways against various walls, corners, odd joinings of planes or just an interesting perspective. In these moments, the physical spaces sing out to me with a visual rhythm that I capture and take home as a digital image. On various computer programs, the images go through series of color and value adjustments, cropping and skewing. Then on paper, there is some reworking of the perspective and size of specific areas in the achieved composition.
