Advertising Pop-Art by Jean-Pierre Kunkel

Kunkel is currently engaged with a new series that incorporates motifs from his work as a photo realistic advertising illustrator, and gives them new meaning / and places them in a new context.
He combines works created over the course of his 40-year career in thematically mixed collages, thus creating surreal imagery whose message is completely new.
The expressive touch up of his realistic, idealized advertising work stems from the influences of the neo-pop era of the 80s and 90s, which reinforces seemingly banal
depictions by changing the size, the material and the connection to Kunkel himself refers to his style as Advertising Pop Art.
He is also interested in
bringing the observer closer to the idea that the starting point - the advertising
illustration as such - is already art.
Creation process: Composing the selected advertising illustrations on the computer /
digital image processing / printing on canvas / revision of the motif for the purpose of
exaggeration and exaggeration of the image using acrylic and oil paints
