Maite Grau was born in Barcelona. She is an unusual, versatile artist and intellectual. She studied Art History in Barcelona and completed her formation as a painter in San Diego and Paris. She has worked in many areas such as education (college teacher), cinema (artistic direction and production), music (jazz Singer), writer ( as a co-author), and of course, as an abstract and in-formalist artist. Maite has held exhibitions in Paris, London, Frankfurt, Berlin, Vienna, and many cities around Spain.
Her abstract paintings originate from a vital need to express emotions and thoughts that can only be depicted in a pictorial way. Her gestual paintings emerge from the most pure intuition and freedom skipping any rational elaborations.We we can see in them how shapes and colours grow according to their own dynamics. They could be seen as mirrors where viewers can re-create their own world.
