Jasmin Hochma (born 1981) is an interdisciplinary artist living in Israel. Hochma graduated from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem (2008) and has since had a dual exhibition and participated in group shows in Israel and abroad. Her works, ranging from ceramic sculpture to photography, video-art and installation, explore the ways in which archetypal identities are formed and their influences on the lives of women and men of all ages and ethnicities. Her works examine gendered ideals and the way they are confronted, while touching on the status of women around the world and the ways in which they are manipulated and exploited. She also deals with the fragile nature of femininity, in both its personal and social aspects, and confronts the impossibility of the ideal of a woman, expected to nurture and provide support while simultaneously maintaining a “perfect” appearance, meant only to please her surroundings.
