Heidi Siemes

Living in Arcen for 43 years now. I have been creative all my life, I started seriously as an artist about 15 years ago. My technique and my paintings more generally are inspired by the traditions of Australia´s aboriginal artists. I use a wooden stick to apply each dot of colour, never tiring of the process, and enjoying the sense of losing myself to the rhythm of the action. I find it both calming and invigorating, and this feeling affects and infuses the resulting works. In addition, I look at my own surroundings, and my memories of traveling in Australia, searching for ways to connect my experiences to history. This mode of creation allows me to reflect on tradition, culture, and visual language, and to highlight the communal aspects of art-making in my pieces
