Gabriele Dahlhoff comes from Germany where she is working and living at the moment.She studied English and Dutch Literature and Language,Philosophy and History of Art.Since her early childhood she has been painting and drawing though there were certain periods in her life in which other things like partner or family were more important.But in 2003 she started again with painting and has been doing it intensively since then without any interruption.She usually paints on canvas,using acrylic colours and other mixed media directly on the canvas.
The human being is her favourite subject,especially faces and the expressions of them or the emotions they are reflecting.In her very individual way of painting she doesn't follow a special nowadays-style but keeps her paintings very personal and close to her own impressions and ideas coming up during the process of painting.As an autodidact painter she likes to be creative in her very own individual way.
Her style is colourful,clear,impressive and mostly figurative.Painting on the white or black canvas is every time a new challenge ,what the painting looks like in the end remains open while she is painting.That's the adventure of painting for her.
Since three generations her family has had a very close relationship to the Netherland where she regularly presents her paintings and drawings in various exhibitions.
