Ellen Hinson

Hinson is a native of North Carolina but is now residing in Colorado, USA. Though she is mostly a self-taught artist she has approximately forty years of practical art experience. She has been mentored in art by various artists including Charles Harris, a leading British international classic painter, and various art instructors in the United States.

Through her love of nature she is inspired to paint landscapes and wildlife. Her photography of this beautiful world and its wild inhabitants gives her the inspiration to record through paint, the world around her. She loves to paint in the studio and en plein air.

Oils, watercolors, and acrylics are her choices of mediums, though oils is her favorite as it was her learning medium. The ease of mixing colors and smoothing them on the canvas to make beautiful paintings is a great experience for her.

Hinson's paintings are history in the making as she paints realistically. Currently she is an art volunteer at the Florissant Fossil Beds National Park.

Her last showings were at Sangre de Cristo Arts and Conference Center in Pueblo CO, The Bodbo, Commonwheel Artists, and Academy Frame Co in Colorado Springs CO, as well as in many on-line sites.
