Liudvikas Daugirdas

Location: Lithuania

I am an artist who is faithful to the traditions established in the works of Lithuanian and world Impressionists. Bold brush strokes and contrasting colours of my paintings reveal something that is very personal – emotion and impression. Little attention to details and a strong focus on the character and the essence of the painted object excites imagination, provoking a viewer to integrate his personal experience into the picture plane.
I view nature as the source of beauty. A leaning tree, rustling bush, bubbling forest stream, flat fields and delicate flowers are my artistic inspiration. In my works, I see the world as the integral part of our existence rather than the replica of the environment or its transformation into artificial beauty in the paintings. The recurring motif of a reflection in water in the paintings is the manifestation of the unique inner world reflected on the canvas.
I live in Vilnius. I am an architect by profession. At present, I work in the field of graphic design. My works exist in private collection in the USA, UK, France, Russia, India and Lithuania.

The Sunflowers “The Sunflowers”

The sunflower petals and leaves blend into the ornamental pattern. Bright sunflower gold looks so much like the sun and reminds of Van Gogh's motifs. The sunflowers symbolize positivity and happiness. Original oil painting on canvas. The artwork is executed in the style of Impressionism.

The Lilac Tree “The Lilac Tree”

The work was inspired by a blooming season of lilacs. The lilac tree is profusely covered with blooms of deep pink and rose-purple colours against greens. The abundant flowering of lilacs fills the air with a pleasant scent that heralds the arrival of spring. The work is painted on canvas in the style of Impressionism. Ready to hang without a frame if required as the edges of the canvas are painted to give the painting a finished look.
