Ken Blakemore

I am based in Atlanta, Georgia, and have been creating visual art for 40 years. I have studied at the Cleveland Institute of Art and John Carroll University and have visited many of the art Museums all across the globe. My art has evolved by experimenting with all kinds of mediums, from egg tempera, acrylic, gouache, metallics and much more. My experience and hard work has refined my techniques in diverse styles and genre’s of art, from realism to minimalism. Creativity defines who I am, and I am proud to say I have persisted in my work and continue to evolve in my art. I considers himself a Modern Traditionalist because I still uses some form of paint placed on a canvas or a panel to render form and shapes. One of the aspects of my creative work that exhilerates me the most, is applying the element of color that exemplifies and is captured in all of my collections. All of the colors are specifically chosen and are very symbolic, regardless of the style that is rendered. One of my paintings was selected for The Stamford Art Association, honoring the great colorist Faber Birren, in 2019.

"I AM"

The “I AM” series, is rendered by using a play on the phrase I AM, presenting a spiritual identity of each of us. The specific design creates patterns by utilizing a specific color palette heightening the appearance each color has on each other.
The color palette chosen for each painting, is not arbitrary, but is inspired by the four seasons in nature. The appearance of each composition, chooses tints, tones and shades that represent the different seasons. Your perception and preference of color, has a direct relationship on our feelings, thoughts and emotions. Your preference to the colors in each design are parallel to the characteristics, thoughts and feelings that make up your unique personality. The viewers predilection of their color choice, enhances the intrinsic nature of his or her unique personality.
Paintings are 11in.x 14in.

Common Bond/ "As One" Dedicated to Black Lives Matter

This current collection reflects my heightened consciousness in our current era, transforming a social ideal into visual imagery. The events of the Black Lives Matter movement compelled me to render this series of paintings. The concepts of unity, family, and common bond are reflected in the spirit of oneness.
