Robert sculpts mixed media and found objects to explore the human experience and the existential struggle to place ourselves into the massive scope of the universe. Jones expresses the order and entropy of the universe as a constant in his work by using a process of creation and destruction. The forms emerge from and recede into the raw materials striking a balance that puts the viewer ‘in medias res’ and evokes a sense of passing time. Influenced by mythology and scientific development and theory Roberts sculptures are modern myths that reflect on our current thinking whether they be social, political, or cultural.
In this exploration of our rapidly accelerating age of information mankind is psychologically and physically merged with technology.
