Daniel Wagner

I have been an artist for as long as I can remember, somewhat of a nativist, I have always exceeded in the visual arts. I supposed the soul follows it's particular muse.
Art to me is about exploration and discovery, whether it be of materials and methods, the external physical world or the internal world of subjective emotion. I consider myself a Formalist/Neo-Modernist still clinging to the idea of an autonomous intrinsic aethetic of a work creating a instantaneous allure as a result of composition, interplay of color and texture. All the better should it have content. I am fasinated by lingustic and anthropological Structuralism, believing that all peoples share a common language and/or mythology, the exceptions to the rule being of even more interest. Some art speaks to some, some art speaks to all.
