Uwe Holstein is a visual artist and photographer, born in Hamburg. Until 1990 Holstein painted mainly in oil on canvas and made several drawings on black paper. After 1990 he focuses in acrylic on cardboard and hardboard. His subjects are people and society.

Asked for his greatest wish Uwe Holstein replies: "One Year with Max Ernst in Paris. I love the surrealists since my first encounter with Paul Klee, Hans Arp, Max Ernst and Joan MirĂ³. It's the desire for fantastic dreams in our rational world."
