Peter Clarke

I am a veteran artist, in the early 1950s I attended Camberwell School of Art in London U.K. After a few years working in the advertising and printing industry I returned to fine-art and exhibited in a few group exhibitions, and sold work in the corporate world. I had two successful one man shows at the Quaker Gallery in St Martins Lane in central London, also selling work at the Battersea Art Fair, The Bluebird Gallery on the Southbank. I lived in the South of France for fifteen years opening a gallery and studio "Atelier Nine" where I exhibited my own work with space for other artists. Since returning to the U.K. I have recently exhibited at the The Parallax Show in Chelsea, and couple of exhibitions at The Brixton East gallery.
I am now based in Hastings where I work and exhibit.

Portfolio:

frescos de france

This is an on-going series of paintings and limited edition prints based on the old advertising publicity found on the walls and buildings around the highways and bye-ways of France. I found it interesting that these images over the years had their colours fading and sometimes losing completely their original message.
