I have been born in the mysterious Land van Maas en Waal in the Netherlands. I always remember the fairy-tale words of my grandmother about witches and secret societies. No doubt, that these stories have formed me to the artist I now am.
After my photographic graduation I freelance worked for years making reportages and portraits for magazines and fashion photographs.
After the digital revolution I could make my dream by making art, the way I saw it. In 2008 I won the professional art-price in my region and that was the start of a succesfull art-career.
My work almost always is project-connected . After a pre-research I am going to photograph and-or choose photographs and after that I compose layer-over-layer works. This process gives me half-products which I use then in my end-products. Only a few of them I am confident with. A time-consuming process indeed.
My work
I am very interested in our people´s world and in cultural and sexual diversity. I mostly therefore work in projects and my basic-project is indeed about "the world of people" as a sort of general research.
"The world of people is about men and women behind often beautiful looking facades in the middle of the chaotic universe we live in. I research the raw site of our lives represented as fairytales in a wonderland as a enlargement of our life. Enlarged characters in chaos, beauty and imperfection.
In every new project I vary on this basic-entity.

My paintings

In fact the enjoying of making them and for all undergoing them in different light circumstances are sort of feed for te brains.
my work has been awarded several times f.i.:
- The VISUAL ART MASTER Award in Lecce Italy Of Accademia Italia In Arte Nel Mondo Association Cultural and
- The FRANCISCO GOYA Award, which I received in Barcelona during the second Art Biennale.
Composing artworks is for me almost a philosophical question. Transferring my thoughts into some kind of metaphoric representations help me to express them through strong and compassing images.

I do have a name for my new paintings: Abstract Symbolic and mystical Art.
Geert's works are built up in layers and provide a rich tapestry of emotions and experiences. The works are visual symphonies, capturing the essence of memories and the passage of time. The abstract and expressive forms are intertwined and suggest a story that each viewer can interpret in their own way. They are more than just works of art; the works are in conversation with the past and present, a resonance that will fill your space with depth and energy.
