My name is Kenneth Blakemore, I currently live in Hilo, Hi. I considers myself a Modern Traditionalist because I still uses some form of paint placed on a canvas to render my images. My art is constantly evolving, I experiment with all kinds of mediums, from egg tempera, acrylic, gouache, gold leaf, metallics and much more. My exploration and intrinsic motivation has refined my techniques to alter the different genre’s of art, regardless of the style that I choose to illustrate. Some of my recent achievements are: On behalf of THE EFFETTO ARTE FOUNDATION I have been awarded the International Prize “Artist of the Year 2025. Also, The Hawai’i Island Art Alliance Board of Directors, two pieces of my art has been selected to be displayed in the 15th Annual Abstract Only Show, 2026. Creativity defines who I am, and I am proud to say I persist in my craft and my art enfolds new again.
The “I AM” series, is rendered by using a play on the phrase I AM, presenting a spiritual identity of each of us. The specific design creates patterns by utilizing a specific color palette heightening the appearance each color has on each other.
The color palette chosen for each painting, is not arbitrary, but is inspired by the four seasons in nature. The appearance of each composition, chooses tints, tones and shades that represent the different seasons. Your perception and preference of color, has a direct relationship on our feelings, thoughts and emotions. Your preference to the colors in each design are parallel to the characteristics, thoughts and feelings that make up your unique personality. The viewers predilection of their color choice, enhances the intrinsic nature of his or her unique personality.

This current collection reflects my heightened consciousness in our current era, transforming a social ideal into visual imagery. The events of the Black Lives Matter movement compelled me to render this series of paintings. The concepts of unity, family, and common bond are reflected in the spirit of oneness.
