Ancil J. Boodram (Biography)
I am an artist with a deep and passionate appreciation for beauty in the natural world and within the human spirit. This enthusiastic and sensitive joy is reflected strongly in my artwork, executed in vibrant realism as well as impressionistic style. I work mainly with acrylics, oils, pastels and water-colours for paintings, and pencil, charcoal and graphite for portraits. My inspiration comes mainly from exploring and photographing the outdoors; experimenting with the concepts of composition, light, form, texture and techniques, and also observing other artists’ works.
My art education gained prominence after graduating in both the certificate and degree programs in Visual/Fine Arts at the University of the West Indies (UWI), (DCFA), St. Augustine, earning the Pat Chu Foon Award and First Class Honours respectively. I am currently living in my hometown of Arima, Trinidad and Tobago, from where I operate my studio.
