Puertorican full time painter since 1986, Estela is an award-winning artist working primarily in watercolor but also works in oil, pastel, mixed media, acrylic and digital art. Has participated in over 320 solo and group exhibitions and has represented Puerto Rico in International Exhibitions, Biennials and Triennials, at: The Bolivarian Museum of Art, Santa Marta, Colombia (2009, 2012, 2018); Museo Casa de la Moneda, Madrid, Spain (2009); National Museum of Watercolor in Mexico, DF. (2004, 2010); Ateneo El Hatillo, Caracas, Venezuela (2005); Agora Gallery, Soho, NY, USA (1993); Art League, Lake Worth, Fl., USA (1989); Marina Civic Center, Panama City, Fl., USA (1987) and many others. Included in Who’s Who in American Art” and in the International Artist Magazine, under “Master painters of the World” (June/July 2003). In PR. she has exhibited in over 20 museums and illustrated covers of telephone directories, tourist guide, historical and poetical books, novels and postcards. In 1999, Estela proposed to the Senate of Puerto Rico the celebration of the “Week of Puerto Rican Visual Artists” anually in December, which was converted into PR. Law 187. Graduated from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus, former university profesor at the Interamerican Univ. of San German, Catholic Univ. of Ponce, and instructor of drawing and painting at the Univ. of PR, all in Aguadilla Campus. Author of “Tu, puedes ser Artista Pintor” (You can be an Artist painter), sold in Border’s Book Stores in PR., art juror and curator at multiple exhibitions. She has been President of the following art associations: Artists Painter of Puerto Rico Associated (APPRA); Puertorican Women Fine Arts Association (PWFAA); Watercolor Association of Puerto Rico (AAPR) and Vice President of the Directors Board for the Aguadilla and Caribbean Art Museum (MAAC), Secretary of Caribbean Artists Association (AAC), member of Asociación Artistas Pintoras de Puerto Rico, Inc. (AAPPRinc), Artists Coalition of Puerto Rico (COAPR) and of Hispano-American Watercolor Group, seat in Venezuela. Her paintings are in private and corporate collections.
