Ilfra Carlick

I paint prolifically and love colour. For all my retrospective work work go to  https://www.ilfracarlick.com/I trained formally at Birkenhead School of Art in 1985.  I developed my inspiration through the mentorship of Kevin Rayner in 1990. Since then I have enjoyed selling to people who love my work and enjoy its vitality for everyday viewing. They still enjoy it after many years. My work inspires repeated viewing and the serendipitous discovery of new shapes and hidden objects.
Variety is my constant. The ongoing theme is bright optimistic colours amid unexpected associations. Landscapes of imagination include semi-figurative ideas, some even dark in mood, but dominated by striking colours.  I'm always intrigued by the flow of my brush and would like you to join me in this fascination.
I am also a cellist and pianist with a Bachelor of Music Degree from London University/RoyalCollege of Music (1972). Imagination in abstract, non-verbal music,  is linked to the imagination in my paintings.
My paintings are in private collections in Canada, USA, France, Germany and the  U.K. Find me at https://www.ilfracarlick.com/

Portfolio:

Colours of Summer

Pictures from my Exhibition in August 2026. Abstract and Semi figurative paintings. Their charm is their variety. Colourful, every time you view you see something different. There are lanscape tendencies, still life images, purely abstract and many recognisable forms. Amongst the many thousands of artists and images these have a particular character very hard to find in an original form anywhere else, not even in AI.

Blue Crescent “Blue Crescent”

Look for a blue crescent amidst a sea of red shades. It's entirely up to you what you find. If I was to say anything this painting is luxurious, like a red wine but never needs laying up, can be drunk at any time and lasts forever.

Mystery Over Squares II “Mystery Over Squares II”

Geometric with very light colours overlaid with geometric shapes. This is one of a pair that would look stunning on an end wall with its partner painting. Alawyas present eyes will go back time and time again. It will cheer and mystify at the same time.

Yellow Jug “Yellow Jug”

A large painting splendidly representing a textured jug amidst sumptous colours. What you feel when you see this everyday will be opulence and magnificence.
