I've been a professional painter/artist for over 30 years -
I have many sources of inspiration -I like to tell stories with my work and express emotions as well as painting still life, flowers and landscape.
-Inspiration comes from mythology, folktales, imagination, dreams, memories, poetry, spirituality, everyday life and almost anything else that attracts my attention.

A Conspiracy of Ravens “A Conspiracy of Ravens ”

"A Conspiracy of ravens" watercolour
This collective noun perfectly evokes this sometimes sinister bird.
Some notable feats of problem-solving provide evidence that the common raven is unusually intelligent. . Part of their success as a species is due to their omnivorous diet; they are extremely versatile and opportunistic in finding sources of nutrition, feeding on carrion, insects, cereal grains, berries, fruit, small animals, and food was

Dreaming with Hares “Dreaming with Hares ”

"Dreaming with Hares" watercolour and acrylic by Trudi Doyle
"The human imagination...has great difficulty in living strictly within the confines of a materialist practice or philosophy. It dreams, like a dog in its basket, of
hares in the open ". John Berger
The Hare is embedded in ancestral folk myths throughout the world, from the Americas to the Far East, from Africa to Europe.

"Essence of Summer" “"Essence of Summer" ”

"Essence of Summer " Expressionist rendition -loosely painted in watercolour of a bouquet of lush summer blooms
Flowers are a beautiful sensuous pefumed gift to humanity - and life giving to insects and so also to humans.
A flower is a testimony that the world is designed for our enjoyment
. ! agree with Emma Goldman "I'd rather have roses on my table than diamonds on my neck".
"People from a planet without flowers would think we must be mad with joy the whole time to have such things about us." ~Iris Murdoch,
"Flowers... are a proud assertion that a ray of beauty outvalues all the utilities of the world". ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Ducks and Sunflowers “Ducks and Sunflowers”

Watercolours of my summer garden This semi abstract watercolour painting was inspired by memories of my garden; lush with growth and colour, my Aylesbury ducks foraging for slugs in the undergrowth.
We raised 3 of the ducks from eggs hatched by an unsuspecting Marron hen who was sitting on her own eggs
.They were named by my daughter - Tulip, Bunji and Jemima -The ducks are now sadly long gone to duck heaven , however I still grow sunflowers and poppies each summer .
