Kurt Weston

Kurt Weston, world-class photographer turned blind visionary is a resident Californian and a Master of Fine Arts graduate from California State University, Fullerton. Weston was once part of what he calls “the illusion machine.” As a glamor photographer he would jet to Europe with top makeup artists and hair stylists, transforming models to create the appearance of beauty. His life changed in 1996, when the photographer became legally blind from Uveitis, an inflammatory condition caused from experimental medications used to treat a rare viral infection, Cytomegalovirus. The result created total blindness in his left eye and only limited peripheral vision, no central vision, in his right eye.
Today, as a legally blind artist Weston offers alternative views and perspectives - interpreting the world as he now perceives it. Currently, Kurt has been creating stunning serigraphs of micro-textural landscapes inspired by the concept of string theory, dark matter and black holes.
In 2010 Kurt was recognized by Arts Orange County with the Outstanding Artist Achievement Award and in 2012 he appeared on national television, CNN’s Fredricka Whitfield show highlighting his photographs and advocacy. Kurt’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and is in both private and public collections.
