Location: Sweden
Anna Blades was born in 1966 somewhere in South Korea. As a two years and four months old she was adopted to Stockholm in Sweden.
She grew up as an only child and spent a lot of time alone. In her childhood, she struggled to adapt and blend in. Her adoptive parents made her feel that she would always be grateful for her life in Sweden. Which she is today. But still as a child it was hard to understand and Anna withdrewed and dreamed away in the world of books and art. Therefore painting has always given her a big comfort. To building an own family has also been very important to her, to start her own foundation to stand on, to have a sense of belonging and where she can feel ease.
In Annas painting, she wants to capture the light and emotions. She finds it exciting with contrasts; light and dark, soft and hard, exclusion and community. She loves the sea and often finds inspiration and beauty in nature’s great wealth and hopes to pass this on to the viewer through her creations.
Anna has a Studio and Art Gallery in the Old Town in Stockholm. She has participated in juried exhibitions, solo exhibitions around Stockholm and one in Karlstad. Participated in several group exhibitions in Stockholm and one in Köping. She has also participated in a group exhibition in Tuscany, Italy. In April to May 2023, Anna was selected for a group exhibition in the National Assembly building and in Insa-dong Maru Art Center in Seoul, South Korea and in June 2025 she was casted to the Omma Poom Park Grand Opening Exhibition in Paju, South Korea.

In my painting I try to combine the typical Swedish with my Asian genes, which results in the fact that I often paint quite coloristically. I want to catch the light and drop it into my paintings and find it exciting with contrasts; bright and dark, soft and hard, exclusion and community. I find inspiration and beauty in the wealth of nature and my hope is to pass this on to the viewer through my paintings.
