Joan’s passion is for the natural world and she is particularly drawn to water, rocks and trees in their spectacular variety. She finds the medium that best conveys these wonders is sculptural acrylics. Joan has been a painter for most of her life, starting in oils, and discovering acrylics in the 1970's. Raised in upstate NY, she studied art and architecture at Cornell University, and art at Colorado College. Her first exhibitions were in Tunis, Tunisia, and Washington, DC as a Peace Corps Volunteer. Through the years, she has continued studies and shown at art centers around the US and in North Carolina, where she has lived since 1978. Joan has exhibited and sold works across the Southeast in galleries, museums and other venues and also in galleries in New Mexico and California. Joan's artworks are in many private and public collections across the US, in Canada and abroad. To view her work, visit her website www.joanmeade.com

They represent some favorite places I have spent time: Ithaca NY, Oregon and Acadia National Park in Maine. I use sculptural acrylics to best capture the texture and depth of each one. To purchase, contact me at email@example.com and to see other works, visit my website, www.joanmeade.com
I was very taken with the way the water tumbles down the rocks at this beautiful waterfall in Ithaca NY. Click on image to see the full artwork. 24" x 12" $975
The reflections in this lake are what drew me in. It was a joy to recreate this view of East Lake in the Newbury Caldera in central Oregon. 18" x 24" $1300
During my time as Artist in Residence at Acadia National Park in Maine, I sought to capture the many moods of Schoodic Point. Here we see that the waves carved the rocks through the centuries and left a deep pool. 14" x 18" $875
