Peter De Pelsmacker

Born in Ghent, Belgium in an artistically gifted family. He immigrated to the United States where he, with his wife, started a business in window displays and convention hall designs. Later started working independently as a business consultant ending his career as a CFO for 14 years in a private company. Art was, however, his true passion as an admirer of existing art as well as creating his non-representational art.

Now he is devoted, full time, to creating small, intimate drawings, mostly in black on white paper with an occasional sidestep in abundant red drawings. His paintings are large scale and are not reminiscent of his drawings but are more recognized by rough brushstrokes or dark brooding compositions.
Has followed workshops in several disciplines but mainly in dry point. Mostly instructed by Xavier Fumat, printer for Richard Serra at Gemini, GEL and private education in several museums and through one-on-one instruction by several artists. Coursework, Silk Screen and Drawing, at Otis College of Art
and Design, Los Angeles.

Exhibited in many group exhibitions in the United States, mainly in Los Angeles, California and in New York, NY. Was selected a member of Gallery 825 and got representation in the Netherlands. Lives and creates his artwork in Westlake Village, Southern California.
