The "Life" Series and the "More Life" Series

LATELY I’VE BECOME MORE AND MORE ENAMORED WITH ABSTRACT IMAGERY, IN PARTICULAR, MY RECENT SIX WORKS TITLED THE “LIFE SERIES.” ALSO MY LATEST THREE WORKS TITLED THE “MORE LIFE” SERIES. THESE TWO SERIES WERE CREATED ON ARCHES PAPER USING ACRYLIC PAINTS, COLLAGED PIECES OF DISCOVERED PRINTED TEXT AND SOMETIMES LUSCIOUS QUINK INK.

JUST COMPLETED . . . THE FINAL IMAGE IN THE “LIFE SERIES”- “ECHANDO FLORES.” HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THIS PAINTING ON AND OFF FOR OVER A YEAR. TITLE MEANS GIVING FLOWERY COMPLIMENTS. I’M VERY PLEASED WITH THE NUANCED COLOR, THE TEXTURES AND THE LIVELY, LOVELY PRESENCE IT EVOKES.

WHAT I HAD IN MIND WAS TO EXPLORE MY REACTION TO ALL THIS MESSAGING BY CREATING ART REPRESENTATIVE OF THAT REACTION. I WANTED TO DEFINE TEXTURAL SURFACE SUBTLETIES USING BITS AND PIECES OF PRINTED TEXT CULLED FROM MAGAZINES AND INCORPORATE THEM WITH SPONTANEOUS BRUSHWORK. THE COLLAGE, THE PAINTING, THE COLOR INTERFACES AND ESPECIALLY THE BITS OF TEXT REPRESENT METAPHORS OF MY EXPERIENCES AS I JOURNEYED THROUGH LIFE. THE “LIFE” ORIGINALS ARE SHOWN BELOW, PRICED AT $1000. THE ORIGINAL IMAGE IS 18”X26.” ARCHIVAL SIGNED PRINTS ARE 15.6” X 10.2”AVAILABLE FOR $450 EACH.

THE “MORE LIFE” ORIGINAL IMAGES ARE 22”X30” AND ARE PRICED AT $1200. “MORE LIFE” PRINTS ARE ALSO 15.6” X 10.2”, THE TECHNIQUES ARE THE SAME, ALTHOUGH THE IMAGERY IS MORE DETAILED. SIGNED 15.6” X 10.2” ARCHIVAL SIGNED PRINTS ARE AVAILABLE FOR $500 EACH. I’M VERY PLEASED WITH THESE NEW WORKS AND THE TEXTURAL JOY THAT RESULTED.
