Despina Tunberg

Born in Greece in 1958, Despina Tunberg began her artistic journey as a successful painter, exhibiting her work in numerous international venues. Her passion for the visual arts led her to open and operate the Omma Centers of Contemporary Art in both Chania, Crete and Santa Barbara, California, where she supported and exhibited a wide range of emerging and established artists.

Now based full-time in Santa Barbara, Despina dedicates herself to World Wide Art Books and Artavita, two platforms she co-founded to promote talented artists on a global stage. Through beautifully produced publications and curated showcases at major international art fairs, she continues her mission of bringing exceptional contemporary art to a broader audience. With three titles published annually, World Wide Art Books serves as a leading reference for collectors, galleries, and art professionals worldwide.

Over the years, Despina has curated and organized exhibitions and festivals across the globe—including in New York, London, Tokyo, Romania, Turkey, and many other cultural centers. For six consecutive years, she directed an international art festival in Chania, Crete, featuring over 150 artists from around the world each year. In 2014, she spearheaded the launch of World Wide Art Los Angeles, a major art expo featuring over 200 artists, reinforcing her reputation as a dynamic force in the international art scene.

Despina is the author of 4 novels ; Between the Creek and the Ocean, Good Angels, The Artis Must Remain Dead and The Long Way Home
