Born and raised in Mumbai, India,
I have been interested in art in its various forms ever since I can remember. I
earned a Master’s in Graphic Design from the United Kingdom and worked as Head
of Department/ Arts Coordinator, Visual Arts and Design in Mumbai and Dubai for
various curricula such as the IB, IGCSE, A Levels, ISCE, and ISC and currently
working at GEMS Modern Academy, Dubai as Head of Department, Arts. I believe
that In order to inspire students, the mentors need to be inspired; whereas an
artist is inspired by experience. Very often the power of arts is neglected,
and it is the arts that transform lives. I have realized and experienced the
power of art as a teacher, artist, student and a human being. As an Artist and
an art mentor, I participated in several exhibitions like World Art Dubai, 2018
and Carrousel du Louvre Spring Salon in the Louvre, Paris, France on 25-27 May
2018 and ‘La Tete d'Or“, Belgium, 2018, Zentangle Teacher training, Frankfurt,
2019, GESS Dubai, 2020; WDO Design Challenge (Member of Team Asia Pacific by
World Design Organization, IBM, Design for
America, Red Dot Miami Art Fair, 2022. Over the course of my experiences, I
have discovered that as much as I like and admire traditional art, (portraits,
landscapes etc.) I find these restricting when trying to express myself and
find that minimal and abstract art opens a whole new world for me to express
myself, my feelings and emotions. This encouraged me to write my first book
‘Pieces to Masterpiece’. My experience of working, especially with the students
of determination, led me to explore the different dimensions of Art and its
benefits in life and expressive arts education. This constant inquiry motivated
me to research and attend various art workshops with therapeutic benefits
around the world to enhance my skills, experience and further my knowledge.
