Enoch Mukiibi

Location: Unknown

Enoch Mukiibi was born in 1975 in Kampala to an Artist father. He grew up in an artistic environment, but it was only at Secondary/High school when he developed an interest and chose Fine Arts as a subject. To his great disappointment, Enoch was unable to study Art at University as his secondary Fine Arts results went missing, twice in a row. He therefore, obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Social Linguistics and Literature in English at Makerere University graduating in 2000.

Throughout the three year course , he held onto his childhood dream of being an Artist and upon completion he decided to practice art fulltime, which he has successfully done since 2003.Enoch is trying hard to make Ends meet through Art

To Enoch Mukiibi, Life is born out of pain. His works are mainly representations of African Cultures and life styles in his immediate Environ. Through them, he talks about the day-to-day activities in a rural African setting-mothers, women, children etc al in semi-Abstract forms.

“My Paintings are used as a vehicle to share my personal views of my immediate world/imaginations,”

He uses Oils, Acrylycs and Water colors. He uses bare Fingers, brushes and palette knives executing thick bold layered strokes. There is a stubborn freedom seen in these strokes.

“My paintings say all there is about me, neither less nor more.”

Enoch is also The AIDCHILD Artist of the year 2005 and 2007. AIDCHILD is a charity organization looking after orphans living with HIV/AIDS. Most of Enoch’s works are displayed at Equation Cafe at the Equator along Masaka road (Uganda) and 50% of the proceeds go towards the Welfare of the orphans.
