Mats de Boer (born in Germany in 2003) is a Dutch artist who works between Mallorca and Madrid. He began painting at the age of eleven, after a teacher recognized his early talent and encouraged him to work in large-scale formats. By sixteen, he was selling minimalist artwork from his family home in the Balearic Islands, walking around the city carrying paintings by hand to frame and ship. This period instilled a work ethic based on consistency and rigor in his design career.
His training continued with an apprenticeship with a Mallorcan artist and, later, with architectural studies in Madrid, where he curated his first exhibitions and collaborations, establishing a sustained practice and a growing dialogue with collectors, galleries, and design studios.
He currently works outdoors on the family estate in Colònia de Sant Pere, using natural pigments obtained from the island's soil Her work is large-format and reductionist in nature, deeply connected to the land through her materials and processes. Her pieces are part of private collections and international exhibitions, with a presence in Amsterdam, Berlin, Madrid, Lisbon, Palma, Frankfurt, New York, Bali, and Bermuda.
Several images documenting and accompanying her creative process are included below.
