Harold Repass

I’m poet and writer suffered most of his life from serious physical and emotional infirmities. Isn’t it odd? I’ve have a passion for Books and keep looking for information on it. Years ago, I would have been about 60, but I still continue to engage in writing.

I originally graduated the Military School. At the time this seemed to me quite a rewarding profession and planned on a career in the Military. In fact it really proved to be the most interesting and influential activity I had. As a Platoon Leader, I spent many hours in the open air, burned by the Sun, soaked by the rain, dried by the wind and frozen by the winter. I also had the "opportunity" to work in Civil Engineering. I spent 11 years for such work, i had in my subordination between 6 and 60 people and obtained only maximal ratings - thus being promoted, according to the regulation, to lieutenant-major and captain.

Due to my ratings I had another opportunity . This was to follow the six-year University courses in the Romanian Military Technical Academy, where I specialized in Systems Analysis. During the studies I was allowed to keep my rank and position in the military.

I was involved in some of the first inter-networking developments, systems and internetworking technologies and their security became a passion.

By chance, at my graduation, Mobil needed experienced IT networking personnel and hired me. I was there “Network Engineer” - where I contributed to installation and administration of one of the biggest computer networks, using emerging technologies (like Ethernet 100VG and 100TX technologies and LAN and WAN routing using Cisco equipment). I was promoted “Network Systems Administrator”, being project leader for the Internet connection project. I managed the process of bidding, design, implementation and administration of the Mobil Internet Network Operations Centre, consisting of main routers, DNS, e-mail and Web servers, firewalls and proxies. I also designed and managed the daily operation of the first Dialog Internet Cafe. Took part in other projects like Intranet/Workflow development, Customer Care systems, e-mail and web services, overall network security. And, of course, improved my technical preparation through day-to-day experience, numerous technical (IT) courses and certifications like CCNA and CCDA.

I was Network Operations Manager in KPNQwest. Here I had to manage and organize the mission of the Network Operations Center department which is to design, accept, install, maintain and manage (operate) KPNQwest network infrastructure so that customers are served in an optimal way. Of course that I managed things like: planning and managing the technical upgrade of international link from 8Mbps to 34 Mbps to 155Mbps; successfully planning and moving the NOC in new offices (without service interruption); installation of a unique Datacentre; improving customer-care services level and internal company processes; increase of company revenues; reducing costs; technical sales support; proposals for new services; assets control; network security; job descriptions and so on. However, I consider the real main achievement (besides building a high-quality service network, with national coverage and state-of-the-art equipment) to be a highly-trained, customer-focused, real experts network team.

At the end of my biography I want to say that now I focused on writing new books and writings. If you need services in the field of system engineering, please do not disturb.
