Joan Tuset Suau L'Arboç, 1957

He studied fine arts in Tarragona and Barcelona. His first painting exhibition was in 1976 in the city of Tarragona.

During the 1980s he settled in Canada, where he lived for six years and he exhibited in several galleries, Edimage, j. Yahouda, Meir, and Cultard. Later he joined the Gallery Cultard to participate in the school of the Art Institute of Chicago, and the 87 FIAC, Grand Palais (Paris). In 1989 he moved to Paris, where he settled for six months, and exhibited in gallery Vison Quai.

These stages were a fundamental shift in his life and work, since then his figurative compositions acquire more force and formal tension, and all the characters in his works obtained a more classical base, while his style was enriched with a more personal and expressive evolution. When he returned to Catalonia was established between L'Arboç, his hometown, and the city of Barcelona. Joan Tuset has subsequently made several exhibitions, both inside and outside of Spain, in cities such as Tarragona, Girona, Barcelona, Valladolid, Salamanca, Düsseldorf, Rome, Portugal or Paris.

Joan Tuset is a figurative artist, faithful to the principles of figurative art and the human figure. He is an artist that has defined a rigorous proposal and staff, assuming the values of the avant-garde and classicism. Tuset used his painting to enhance with a symbolic meaning, passion and irony, which provide an unusual dramatic force to his work, giving rise to multiple interpretations and a flow of ideas.

With regards to sculpture, from an early age, Tuset was interested in sculpture. Generally uses terracotta, plaster and bronze, while still other materials that may enrich the final result of the work. In 2005 he received the commission to make the monument of the Puntaire de l’Arboç, (Historical and traditional figure of a catalan woman). works in bronze situated in one of the roundabouts of the N-340 at the entrance to the l’Arboç.
