Gerald James (Jacques) Domingue is an 89-year-old medical scientist and artist (painter and poet). He was honored with the title of Professor Emeritus by Tulane University, where he served for thirty years as Emeritus Professor and Director of Urology research as well as Professor of Medical Microbiology and Immunology.
He was a prolific researcher and published original work in leading scientific and medical journals, as well as books focusing on bacterial persistence and the expression of disease. In addition to his medical interests, he has written volumes on the biographies of the Domingue, Prejean, and Castille families and their historical relationships.
Gerald Domingue holds doctoral degrees in basic medical sciences, including microbiology and immunology, from Tulane University School of Medicine and the Graduate School, New Orleans.
He was honored by the country of France as Chevalier des Palmes Académiques and was elected to Fellowship in the American Academy of Microbiology for his academic achievements and fellowship in the Infectious Diseases Society of America.
