My name is Maryam Gomizi and my artistic name is Mary G. My journey in the
world of art began in Iran, the cradle of art, culture, and a rich
civilization. Like every other woman in my land, I have experienced and
lived through years of restrictions against women. For me, art has become a
tool to make the voice of Iranian women heard, who for years have been crying
out for their right to freedom, but their voice has not been heard.
I have always tried, perhaps I can be a worthy representative of my
land. Behind each of my works lies passion, hard work, and hope. As an artist,
I have learned that art is not only an expression of emotions, but also a tool
for those in society who were neither heard nor seen. In my works, you will
find a world that often reflects the voices less heard. My works—from intricate
and detailed portraits to fluid movements—are more than just a technique; they
display stories that have often remained hidden. I invite you not only to look
at my art but also to feel the emotions it evokes. Thank you for being with me
on this journey.
I use various materials, from oil to charcoal, to bring these stories to
life.

“African Heritage, by Mary G.”
"African Heritage" is a captivating triptych by artist Mary G that serves as a vibrant and elegant celebration of African culture and identity. This dynamic three-panel composition features stylized, elongated silhouettes of three African women, rendered in a profound dark brown against a warm, sun-drenched golden background subtly adorned with traditional ethnic motifs. Each figure is a unique embodiment of tribal grace, distinctively styled yet united in their regal posture. The woman on the left, shown in profile, holds her head high, wearing a colorful, multi-layered headwrap and a striking red skirt with a detailed striped border. The central figure, posed directly, lowers her head in a contemplative, dignified manner, her wrap in rich maroon and her skirt blending deep reds and orange with intricate patterns. The figure on the right is turned, gesturing with her hand, showcasing a bold green, yellow, and red wrap that complements her patterned skirt. They are all adorned with multiple necklaces—the white pearls on the left, the layered blue and green beads on the right—and large hoop earrings, accentuating their natural elegance. The harmonious interplay of warm hues, geometric patterns, and strong silhouettes creates an atmosphere of timeless tradition, cultural pride, and joyful feminine power. Designed to bring energy and a powerful narrative presence to any interior, this triptych is a moving tribute to the rich heritage and enduring beauty of African artistry and womanhood.
“The Blue Symphony, by Mary G.”
"The Blue Symphony" is a vibrant and energetic acrylic painting by Mary G that celebrates the fluidity of movement and the expressive power of color. The artwork features a ballerina in a graceful, soaring leap, her silhouette defined by a striking cobalt blue tutu that flows like rhythmic waves. This central figure acts as a "symphony" of poise and elegance against a high-contrast, expressionistic background.
The artist employs a bold, impasto-style technique in the backdrop, using a kaleidoscopic palette of fiery oranges, brilliant yellows, and deep reds, interspersed with cool touches of green and blue. These dynamic brushstrokes create a sense of explosive energy, as if the music itself has been visualized on the canvas. Mary G masterfully balances the detailed form of the dancer with the abstract intensity of her surroundings, capturing the precise moment where physical discipline meets artistic freedom. This piece is a radiant tribute to the performing arts, designed to bring a sense of passion and movement to any space.

“The Eternal Silence of Pasargadae, by Mary G.”
"The Eternal Silence of Pasargadae" is a masterful oil painting by Mary G that captures the solemn majesty of the Tomb of Cyrus the Great. This artwork pays homage to one of the most iconic symbols of ancient Persian heritage, rendered with exceptional attention to historical and architectural detail. Using a rich palette of warm ochres, deep ambers, and earthy sienna, the artist meticulously portrays the weathered texture of the monumental limestone blocks, highlighting every crack and erosion mark that tells a story of centuries gone by.
The composition utilizes a low-angle perspective, emphasizing the structural grandeur and the imposing presence of the sepulcher against a soft, atmospheric sky. The play of light across the tiered stone base creates a realistic sense of volume and three-dimensionality, while the subtle, overcast background enhances the feeling of "eternal silence" and timelessness. This piece by Mary G is not merely a landscape; it is a profound tribute to historical endurance and a reflection on the enduring legacy of a great empire, captured through the classic and enduring medium of oil on canvas.
A profound exploration of contrast and emotion through the medium of charcoal. This collection by Mary G features hyper-realistic portraits and studies that leverage the raw, expressive nature of charcoal and carbon to create deep shadows and luminous highlights, bringing each subject to life with dramatic intensity.
"Emerald Gaze" is a stunning hyper-realistic portrait by Mary G that masterfully blends the raw intensity of charcoal with a singular, piercing focal point of color. This artwork features a woman with a powerful and enigmatic expression, her face framed by a voluminous, textured fur hat and an intricately braided hairstyle. The artist demonstrates exceptional technical skill in the rendering of varied textures—from the soft, fine strands of the hair and the heavy, tactile feel of the knitted scarf to the smooth, flawless skin tones.
While the majority of the piece is executed in a sophisticated grayscale, Mary G intentionally breaks the monochromatic scheme by highlighting the subject's eyes in a vivid, translucent green. This "emerald gaze" creates an immediate and haunting connection with the viewer, drawing the eye to the depths of the subject's soul. The deep, velvety blacks of the charcoal provide a dramatic contrast against the softer mid-tones, creating a work that is both visually striking and emotionally resonant. This portrait stands as a testament to the artist's ability to capture not just a likeness, but a captivating presence and a specific moment of silent intensity.
A collection that highlights the precision and versatility of pencil mediums. This portfolio by Mary G brings together meticulous graphite drawings and vibrant colored pencil artworks, focusing on fine detail, smooth transitions, and the skillful layering of pigments to achieve a high level of realism and depth.
“The Echo of 1000 Hours, by Mary G.”
"The Echo of 1000 Hours" is an evocative and nostalgic oil painting by Mary G that transports the viewer into a cozy, sun-drenched interior filled with stories and warmth. The composition centers on a tender moment between an elderly man and a young girl, seated at a rustic wooden desk by a window. The soft, golden light filtering through the lace curtains illuminates the scene, casting a gentle glow on their focused expressions as they share a moment of learning or quiet conversation.
The artist demonstrates an incredible eye for narrative detail, filling the room with elements that suggest a lifetime of memories: vintage portraits on the walls, a cat resting quietly in the foreground, and various household objects that give the space a lived-in, authentic feel. The use of a warm, sepia-toned palette creates a sense of historical depth and emotional resonance, echoing the "1000 hours" of life, wisdom, and connection shared within these walls. Through rich textures and masterfully handled light, Mary G captures more than just a room; she captures the essence of heritage, the passage of time, and the quiet beauty of intergenerational bonds.
