Rick Meli

Rick Meli is a local artist, instructor and retired art historian, born and raised in Rhode Island. He received his artistic training from the Rhode Island School of Design: 1971-1974. He also attended the University of Rhode Island were he earned a B.A. in Art History. He further earned a M.A. in Art History with a concentration in museum studies and art restoration from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He later earned an advanced degree in Cultural Studies. Frederick, one time was an assistant curator at the University Museum of Contemporary Art, the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
He has taught at local colleges and art centers including,: Springfield College, Massachusetts, the University of Rhode Island, the Learning Connection, Take a Break Art Classes in North Kingstown and the Neighborhood Guild: Access to Art Program. He has traveled extensively, recording his experiences in Pastels. His art work is primarily two dimensional, working in a realistic or naturalistic style. Much of his present work is in the landscape format and still life. He has done a number of commissions and design projects and his work is in several private collections throughout the U.S.
