Biography

Laura Neto Oliveira is a Portuguese contemporary abstract artist whose practice explores the emotional relationship between colour, texture, memory, and imagination. After retiring in 2022, she discovered painting in 2023 and developed her artistic practice as a self-taught artist, gradually establishing a distinctive visual language. Working primarily with acrylics, acrylic gesso, sand, and mixed media, she creates layered surfaces that evoke movement, atmosphere, and emotional depth. Her compositions move between abstraction and the suggestion of landscapes, places, and imagined spaces, inviting viewers to connect with the work through their own experiences and interpretations. Her paintings have been presented in several solo exhibitions in Portugal, reflecting an evolving exploration of materiality, emotion, and contemporary abstraction.
