Mervi Korhonen

Mervi Korhonen

Location:

Mervi Korhonen has been drawing since childhood, but the real inner artist awakened at the age of sixteen when she tried oil painting for the first time. That moment sparked a special enthusiasm for art, and she eagerly began to practise both drawing and painting. Over the years, her passion for fine art and her desire to grow as an artist have only deepened.

Mervi is not limited to any specific subject, but living in Finland—where nature is always close by—has been a constant source of inspiration. She often paints small details from nature or everyday life, such as animals and flowers. Her painting style is precise and detailed, although in recent years she has been exploring freer forms of expression. As a counterbalance to her detailed work, she occasionally creates abstract pieces.

She mainly paints with watercolors and acrylics and also works with a variety of drawing tools.

Mervi regularly takes part in group exhibitions in Finland, and in recent years some of her works have been accepted into international juried watercolor exhibitions. In 2022, she held her first solo exhibition at the birthplace of the former President of Finland in Pielavesi.

For Mervi, art is the elixir of life—something she cannot imagine living without. She is committed to constantly developing as an artist and enjoys the continuous journey of exploration that art offers.

In addition to painting, she has worked as a graphic designer and created small illustrations for companies. Her largest illustration project so far has been illustrating a cat-themed children’s book written by her father-in-law.

Mervi was born and has lived her whole life in the beautiful city of Kuopio, surrounded by lakes and nature.
