Natalie Sommer

My name is Natalie Sommer and as a Scribe Artist and Poet, I have created my own genre with my non-conformist mind intent on painting my take on life and telling each story piece, my “storyism”.
I paint mainly on canvas with acrylic and each painting has a poem defining it.

I believe I am a British eschatological scribe, painting for the survival of mankind and my own. My work is enigmatic and the avenues of my poetry are often intentionally unfathomable at first glance.

Most of my scribe artist pieces would work at any angle and cannot be defined easily.

The words canvas and canvass are homophones: they sound alike but have different meanings. The noun canvas refers to a closely woven cloth and is happily used for such things as tents, sails, and in my case acrylic paintings. The verb canvass means to look over carefully or to solicit votes, orders, or opinions so I am canvassing for your reaction, your response, your viewpoint.

As a Scribe Artist, the canvass is written in my heart, reality is distorted and the poem is an intellectual snapshot of the jigsaw experience of the raw icons of my mind.

The trigger for each scribe artist piece is a real and raw life experience and I am always juggling this within a passionately pluralistic, multi-cultural mind-set and as a single mother to a mixed race daughter.

My intention today and every day is to use the space provided to showcase my art and my mantra “Embrace the hiccups in your mind” originates from my viewpoint that positive reinforcement is the key to tackling pain. So my mission for myself and the viewer would be to explore personal experiences, emotional warts and all and overcome them.

Scribe art always remembers kindness is not weakness it is strength.
