Marie-Ghislaine Beaucé is a French artist born in 1951, currently active in London whose journey is deeply rooted in her fascination with textile materials. At the National School of Fine Arts in Nantes and during the years she spent working as an artisan in interior design, she understood the artistic potential of textile fibers, the absolute protagonists of her artworks.
These compositions are punctuated and delimited by rhythmic layers of fabrics, employing woven ribbons techniques and superposition of padded tubes, suggesting a sense of movement and progression. One of the central themes of the works is the relationship between order and chaos. The compositions often feature a structured, geometric framework that is softened by the organic, fluid nature of textile fibres. Each piece of fabric, with its unique texture and colour, contributes to the overall composition. The infrastructure of each work combines a sophisticated melange of abstraction which focuses on the universal language of form and line.
In this piece, the background is a woven mixture of linen and silk ribbons, on which knotted padded tubes of different thickness, create a dynamic geometric danse. The interplay of texture and form celebrates the complexity of connections, inviting contemplation and harmony.
in this mixed fabrics artwork, I translated into weaving an abstract narrative, guiding the eye with organic movements against a structured grid. The interplay of colours and textures with added abstract shapes of crochet knitted white cotton and navy blue silk yarns, embodies both the chaos and harmony that I perceive in the world. This piece is a vibrant dialogue between order and complexity.
This elegantly woven tapestry of interwoven bands of various types of fabric in organic hues conceals the enchantment inherent of the elements of nature. The use of dark blue linear elements adds contrast and structure to the piece, guiding the viewer across the canvas.
