Michal

Michal is a West London artist specialising in unique playing card assemblage artworks. He transforms premium decks of playing cards into large-scale A1 pieces by thoroughly shuffling each deck and meticulously hand-assembling every card onto canvas.

Each artwork permanently captures one mathematically unrepeatable moment — selected from 52! possible permutations — making every piece truly one-of-a-kind. Through his practice, Michal explores themes of chance, chaos, order, and the beauty of the unrepeatable.

Deck of Art

By fixing the random order in place, I permanently capture a single, mathematically unrepeatable moment. A standard deck of 52 cards can be arranged in 52! possible ways — a number so vast it exceeds the atoms in the observable universe. This makes each piece truly one-of-a-kind.
My work sits between mosaic, assemblage, and conceptual art. It explores themes of chance, chaos, and order, transforming an everyday object into something permanent and contemplative. No prints or reproductions are ever made — each artwork exists in only one version in the world.
