Seoul-based artist Jaehee Yoo was born in Seoul, South Korea. She received her bachelor's degree from the College of Art at Ewha Womans University. She majored in traditional Korean painting and art history. She explores the relationship between her own stories and traditional Korean women's culture through her work. Her main media include Indian ink, silk, and traditional Korean paper Hanji. Yoo questions how tradition and personal experience shape modernity and identity. She believes that images can express a person's true inner self. She is interested in using bamboo pens, Indian ink, and silk to express personal narratives, and delicate lines reveal metaphorical images that symbolize the essence of the artis
My abstracted painting allude to the South Korean landscape. Selecting colours, textures and details from surrounding sceneries as well as from personal memories, i present an enhanced experience of nature as a place for today's digitalised world. The work depicts a limited significance in the face of the endlessness of space and time.
