Wayne Pfaff

Wayne Robert Pfaff was born 1949 in Sandusky, Ohio. He graduated from Sandusky High School in 1967 and attended Ohio State from 1967-69, before enrolling at the College of the Dayton Art Institute, Dayton, Ohio. There, he majored in painting and printmaking, graduating BFA with honors in 1974. He was offered a scholarship to pursue a master's degree at Washington University in St. Louis but regretfully passed on the opportunity because of personal obligations.

While in his teens in Sandusky, Wayne had learned the sign painting trade while working at the Cedar Point amusement park, and after art school, signmaking served as his vocation for the next 40 years. He established Village Signcraft, 1981, in Tiffin, Ohio, specializing in tradional sign painting techniques, surface and glass gilding, carving and historical styles and reproductions.

in spite of his commercial endeavors, Wayne maintained a passion for his personal artwork that continues to this day. His painting style is abstract and largely biomorphic, influenced greatly by music and nature.

He lives in rural Seneca County, Ohio, with his wife Denise Elaine Hammond.
