Sylvianne Blum

Location: Mexico

Sylvianne Blum Cassereau is an artist deeply devoted to figurative art. Through dry pastel, she seeks to reflect the human being—emotions, feelings, and the environment that surrounds each individual. She works with dry pastel sticks and pencils, using expressive strokes to build the textures of skin, fabric, and metal, achieving a distinctive sense of realism.

Her creative process begins with an idea, followed by photographing the subject herself in most cases; occasionally, she collaborates with a photographer friend when the project requires it. From there, she develops a precise and faithful drawing of the model. At times, she travels to meet and portray remarkable individuals, choosing to represent them within their own environment. Through careful layering of color, she gradually constructs the presence and identity of the person portrayed.

Color, light, shadow, and texture play a central role in her work. The intention of her paintings is to captivate the viewer through color, the strength of a gaze, or subtle details, provoking emotions such as surprise, joy, pride, curiosity, and reflection.

Based in Mexico City, she continues to learn and create every day, with photography as another important passion and source of inspiration. Along her artistic journey, she has had the privilege of meeting wonderful, highly creative, and generous individuals, many of whom have become cherished and lasting friendships.
