Lisen Stibeck

Location: Sweden

Photographic Artist Lisen Stibeck works on long term projects. Her keen interest in teenage identity developed into her photo book “Daughters”, winning critical attention and international awards. More recently, her focus turned to the inner landscape of the psyche, opening up a world of dreams and archetypes as she delved into a form of magical realism. Her work ¨Undertow¨, is a meditation on life and death, her haunting b/w imagery carries a suggestion of emerging narratives, at times evoking loss, grief and death and her brilliant abstract color work is a celebration of life. Her work ¨Women in the flow¨ is a kaleidoscope of images - lives of women through time, across continents and cultures, through stages of life - joy, pain and loss: a veiled portrait, a fleeting body, a dancing shadow, a dark slash of painful memory… all poetic fragments. Lisen Stibeck is based in Sweden and regularly spends time in Morocco and France. Photographic Education: 2014-2015 Smedsby Atelje, School of Photography, Paris, France 2010-2014 Mentorship with New York photographer Mary Ellen MarkExhibitions: 2024 Interwoven visions,Gallery of Modern Art.
